We’ve had the 4th of July cookouts and fireworks so I’m getting in the mood for fall camp and football. I know we have plenty of returning players who will see bigger roles this year but what about some of our first year players…which ones are going to be big contributors?

I see David Sanders being tabbed as a starter at Tackle by many and I hope it’s because he’s just a beast and is too good not to start. OL is a tough place for a true freshman but we’ve had a few over the years that pulled it off. I’m hoping he plays like seasoned veteran and earns AA honors.

Because of McCoy’s injury, Colton Hood could be one our most impactful transfers. He started opposite of Travis Hunter last year so he saw plenty of action. The guy was very highly recruited but got lost in all the chaos at Auburn. I’m hoping he can have a McCoy type season and make our secondary a very stingy, smothering defense.

Whoever ends up at QB will be impactful and hopefully in a positive way. Aguilar is experienced and seems to me to be extremely competitive - like the Pavia guy at Vandy. He’s not gonna hold back anything and that can be very contagious. I felt like Hooker played the same way. But he is stepping up a division so we’ll have to see. One preseason publication list him as dead last amongst SEC QBs - I hope he saw that and it pissed him off. Of course he has to win the job but he is the most experienced but Merklinger has had a year in the system and was rated pretty high. And MacIntyre was rated pretty high and was an early enrollee so all three are in the mix…the QB position is important in every offense but I believe it’s even more so in Heupel’s scheme - whoever emerges as the starter has to be able to see and read the field quickly and get the ball out…Nico had a lot of skill but he held the ball too long and took too many sacks IMO.

so who are you looking to make an impact this fall?

Not sure. Probably star if they are actually gonna use him as a WR.
That’s what I figured which is a weird position in our defense with the people we choose to play there imo.. we need a bigger player to help with run support.. like ledarrel McNeil or Brian Randolph. Last few years I feel we’ve been out of position

Heard, Moe, Satterwhite, Sham, Perry, Pendleton and Sanders. If the OL can play better this year than last, does that open the offense back up?

Heup always seems to have a solid run game, but can they get back to throwing the ball around the yard?

Having an OL that can pass protect will be the key. Its been a while.

As far as the new guys

Colton Hood
Radarious Jackson
Star Thomas
David Sanders Jr
Travis Smith
Amari Jefferson
Isaiah Campbell
DaSaahn Brame-has the ball skills to play WR imo. It will be interesting if we need him due to lack of depth/size.

Joey or George QB (I think George Macintyre will be a star if he can beat out Joey or needs to take over eventually. JMO Jake is the 3rd)

Non newcomers that will have to step into bigger roles and make a bigger impact

Braylon Staley
Peyton Lewis
Jordon Ross( Take over for James Pearce Jr)

We won 10 games last year and beat UF and bama in the same season. When in the hell has the NFL been more important than UT football to Tennessee fans? I don’t care if it isn’t Saban bama any more. A win over the tide still means something.

I just like the old college football of exploiting players and making them sit a year if they transfer

We won 10 games when our non conference gets us 3 wins… it shouldn’t happen we should play 10 in conference games
