“He processes things fast, makes good decisions.” That is the one pertinent and meaningful thing I took from the article regarding GM. IF TRUE, that gets me excited. Its the most important characteristic for a QB to have in JH’s offense (and prolly any other offense). It’s why HH flourished and no other QB has during Heupel’s tenure.

If Aguilar is the starter and with a 5 star recruit inbound, I would expect both Merk and GMac to be gone in the first portal window. And I don’t think we can get anyone out of the portal with zero prospect of playing time. If those two guys sit through 2025 as backups, I think they will have done all we can ask of them. We could end up with no QB depth in 2026.

Merk will probably leave but there's no way George will. He'd be the favorite for the starting job next year. I'm pretty sure Joey is a senior.

I doubt both would leave without even competing for the starting job. Brandon will be a true freshman. There will be a 3-way QB battle in 2026 and Brandon likely won't win it.

I have been thinking that to. If Joey wins I don't see Merk hanging around for another QB battle next season. If Hyp thought Merk was the guy for this season, Joey with a $M NIL deal would not be here. This Brandon kid looks like a perfect fit for the O but winning the job as a freshman he would have to be outstanding.

With the wide open portal no player is going to sit the bench long.
