No offense to Jennings at all, but this is exactly what is wrong with pro ball, and college ball today. Seven million is not enough to run fast and catch a football! Coaches making millions per year and I could go on and on. Meanwhile fans keep getting screwed with rising ticket prices. Hopefully, one day the bubble will burst and we can come back to reality.

This.

The man signed a contract. Bet he was pretty damn happy when he did. It offered a guarantee. Yet now he's no longer willing to accept what he already accepted?

Sound like a certain QB that used to live in Knoxville. CJH sent him packing. Buh bye.

Trade him. Sorry JJ, love you man, but you're being greedy.

He is beloved by 9ers fans. I hope he gets paid because he puts in a lot of work for them.

To those comparing to NIL and crying big crocodile tears comparing him to Nico, the NFL has a mature contract negotiation structure (salary caps, predictable contract negotiation periods, actual contracts that force you to stay with a team for X years). This happens every year with NFL free agents. Their value shifts rapidly year to year. He sees an opportunity to make more money and really isn't holding a team hostage because EVERYBODY on that team is getting paid generational money win or lose. Plus he only has one year left on his contract. They may agree to just cut him. The NFL is a professional league and negotiations like this happen every off season. It is just a part of the game. Also, Juaun has to convince a new team that his remaining contract value is worth him being picked up. Contracts travel with players in the NFL, unlike NIL which is some nebulous wishy washy system.

He outplayed his contract. He's clearly worth more. Comparing this situation to Nicos is pretty dumb.

Since entering the league as a 7th rounder, JJ has been vastly underpaid according to his production compared to his teammates. His style of play opens himself to injury and becuase of other player holdouts, trades, and injuries he is being relied upon to carry a larger load. I don't blame him for asking for more money. He probably is just looking for a little more to compensate him for the role he is being asked to fill. Afterall, the 49ers just ponied up to pay Brock Purdy 53 million a year.

That a simpleton mentality. The 49ers generate 600-700 million a year in total revenue and the franchise is worth 6.8 billion dollars. His value is market driven. As projected WR#2 he (has) and will play a huge role in the offense, especially on 3rd down. The 49ers having been making out like bandits with what he's been getting compensated under his current contract.

Now that Deebo has moved on, he wants WR2 money. That's why he is asking for more. 7 sticks is WR3 money. It's market driven
Not finding fault but it's funny that everyone jumped on Ricky Gibson when he asked for more money after signing his contract. Many took the position that he signed a contract and he should not try to renegotiate his agreement. Now that JJ is doing the same, it somehow feels different.

I get it. The situations are similar, but the NFL is a professional league where contract negotiations happen all the time. If the 9ers determine he is not worth it, then they will just trade his contract elsewhere and another team would have to pay him. He would make the same and would likely get a follow up contract again as a free agent. 9ers save money and cap space for a bigger move next year or another free agent.

Gibson, and any other college athlete now, have way more leverage because another school is not required to pick up the contract when he is "traded". He would just try to squeeze university A, then transfer to university B if he has to. If he leaves, there is money saved but the school and coach can really suffer as results have a huge impact on future recruiting.

Are you talking about Ricky Gibson's NIL deal? That's entirely different than Jennings' situation. Geez

U only got so much time to make money in the NFL. He’s moved up on the depth chart and needs to be paid that slot value. If he was asking WR1 money at this point, that would be greedy.

Pro ball and college ball and he did it because someone was hurt in the off season not because he produced anymore when someone was hurt and earned it.
