Heupel, defensive coordinator Tim Banks, offensive coordinator Joey Halzle and players will participate in media day Tuesday beginning at 12:45 p.m. ET. The Heupel and coordinator portions will be carried live on Tennessee Athletics' YouTube channel as well as @Vol_Football X and Facebook.

The Volunteers begin practice Wednesday morning, marking the first of three workouts in four days.

Just heard B Rice on the EA show make a statement about media availability and the lack of it, tells him the coaching staff knows we are not going to be good. As if they are hiding it. My question is what is different with media availability this year than previous four under CJH? I recall the closed practices going on for a while and most programs follow this pattern.

That sounds stupid. Media availability for practice has been scarce under this regime

Yeah, that makes a whole lot of sense. Media availability wouldn't even enter my mind as an evaluation tool of how good or bad the team will be on the field this year. To the best of my knowledge, IIRC, nothing is different with the way the University is handling availability leading into fall camp from previous CJH seasons. Been a little more turmoil within the program than previous years, but IMO everything has been handled professionally and in an appropriate manner. That tells me more about the health of the program than media availability of coaches and players. The Boo situation is disappointing not for the way it has been handled by the team, but more so by the media speculation and how the Carter camp has and hasn't managed the situation. Fall camp should be all about focus on the field, not pandering to local or national reporters so they have something to justify their paychecks. Football Time in Tennessee is officially on the clock!

Haven't seen a schedule yet so difficult to say if there's a difference this year or not but there will always be closed sessions.

It will be same mixed take we get every year from writers.

"Boo is part of our team here," Heupel said. "There are some things he needs to accomplish to get back on the field with us. I don't have a set timeline on that. Our leadership council has been a part of those things, those discussions with me and with Boo. I'm proud of what they have done. They care and love Boo and want him to be his best, too, and I think through this, Boo sees that as well. At the end of the day, us collectively continue to grow through the course of training camp. I will be the one that will handle and will take questions on Boo, and that's today and here throughout the beginning part of training camp. But proud of how our team has handled those things. Ultimately, we will handle those things internally. I am not going to get into the details on everything."

At the end of the day, it’s a requirement to be here, be a part of what we’re doing.

And there’s a lot of information out of there, out in the world. Some of it is correct, some of it is not. I’m not going to address everything over the last week. Disappointed with how some things were handled. At the end of the day, we have conversations, what does it look like moving forward? And that’s all parts, our leadership council, Boo and our staff. So it’s not about what yesterday was, it’s about today. And we’ll see as we continue to progress where that leads us.”

Sounds to me like Coach worded that just right.

Jesse Perry is the first interior guy off the bench. Could end up as a starting guard if Satterwhite can't nail down center spot.
