I don't know about these freshmen

I wouldn’t count on any freshman but Sanders. And even with him, I’d remember what Darnell Wright looked like as a freshman. He eventually became everything you’d want from a 5 star tackle, but he was not particularly good as a freshman.

It must really suck to be such a miserable person all the time

These 3 dudes here will be special … outstanding athletes…. They will contribute this season , no doubt

Sanders starts for sure if health allows. The other two, we will see. I’m sure they will see some snaps but will either of them contribute this year beyond a handful of snaps here and there? James Pearce barely played as a freshman and is the best NFL prospect Heupel has coached.

Can only a miserable person believe that true freshmen are unlikely to contribute much on a football team? Name the true freshmen who have started under Josh Heupel. There aren’t many.
But maybe they aren’t like those before. Maybe Smith is good like Williams the 17 year old from Bama last year or Smith from Ohio State. You nor I have any clue but I’ve been excited about Smith since I watched him in person last year in high school. The kid is great and will be a very good WR for us. Hopefully this coming season along with 2 others. Also we never signed a OT like Sanders, so we shall see how good he is before you telling us all that freshman can’t play.

I would have figured Smith would have been as highly touted as Jeremiah Smith or Ryan Williams if he were capable of stepping in day 1 and playing like them. It is more likely he is Mike Matthews, who could still wind up as a very good player for us.

We have had multiple 5 star tackles. Like I said earlier, Darnell Wright wound up being a great player for us and was a 5 star. But it took time for him to play like one. It took time for Jawaun James to play like one. Trey Smith was a beast from day 1, but he played inside.

These guys could end up being great players at UT. It is unlikely any are great in 2025 though. It is unlikely that 2 of the 3 even see starter snaps, let alone step in as great players from day 1. I personally just don’t get how some of you can watch an interview or see someone hit a pad and decide “these guys look amazing.”

They rarely rarely are really good. Those SEC DLs have a lot of strength and refined technique.
