I always like DD. Really good football coach who should have never been a head coach.

I have same belief. I don't hate the guy, I actually think he handled the situation better than Pruitt and Jones (not saying much) when it came to emotions. Guy was in over his head from the start and likely should not have been hired. I blame Mike Hamilton more than Derek Dooley.

this. Derek Dooley was entirely the fault of the University of Tennessee not being managed well. Phil Fulmer should have been given the ability to choose his own successor and do it in an orderly fashion.

This is a much better fit for him than being a college head coach. He’s a super smart guy and bad with people, so this may work. He could’ve had a career in politics long ago had he not gone into coaching. Always seemed more cut out for that stuff.

what is it with failed football coaches becoming politicians? 😔
Dooley’s dad was apparently mentioned as a candidate years ago and his mother lost a republican primary for congress over 20 years ago. Seems the family are passionate about politics and he is following in their footsteps.

Lawyer like his dad was hoping he'd be, I believe I remember that correctly. I think Vince advised him against coaching.....

You may hate or love Tuberville's politics, but he was an outstanding football coach. Had Bama's number

Anyone of us would have taken the job and $2 million if we were offered. I’m not sure Neyland could have done much with what Dooley inherited. DD was about three years away from being the next Auburn head coach. After Kiffen left town in the middle of the night, no one and that means no reputable, winning coach was coming to the dumpster fire in Knoxville. The fire was so bad, KFD wouldn’t even respond to calls.

Remember how excited the fan base was after his initial press conference? Y’all loved the southern accent and that he said “britches!” He wasn’t a good coach here, but he gave his all for UT, unlike Kiffy, Brickhead and Moneybags.

He would make a good Senator. Imagine the press covering his quotes and musings! Ossoff needs to go back to working for a community organizer, raising funds for woke initiatives. He is not for Georgians.
