Could we see an NCAA Redzone?

With the news of ESPN acquiring the rights to NFL "RedZone," it raises the possibility of expanding the format to other sports like college football. The terms of the deal reportedly allow ESPN to use the "RedZone" name and format for sports beyond the NFL. Personally, I’d be excited to watch it on Saturday's, except when Tennessee is playing, of course.

Thoughts?

Would be my choice for viewing for everything other than the Vols' game

I love the idea @ Freak.

I assume TV contracts (with conference affiliation) are the reason such a channel doesn’t exist. But you’d think the big boys (SEC and Big 10) would discuss the possibility w/ ESPN or another network.

It would be a win - win for the conferences and network as ratings would be incredible, imo.

I'm here for it.

Very hard to follow all games at once. I have my TV on the YouTube split screen PLUS computer PLUS sometimes my phone as well.

LOVE the Redzone method. Also love it because it's free to me lol.

With current technology, I would love to be able to customize a stream to my favorite teams, conference, and matchups. Select the games you want to see (or have a little financial interest in), see all the big action, custom tuned to your "channel."

Not sure how that would work with different networks having different conferences. I’m sure ESPN could do a version with all the games on their channels, but I’m not sure if, for instance, Fox would want to let the Big 10 games come on something like that. NFL can make the networks do things like that because they run the whole roost. Getting all the conferences and all the networks to come together for that seems like a tall task.

Great concept but as i posted earlier, must overcome the TV contracts with the conferences. I still think it’s doable and a money maker for all the conferences and the network who would provide the programming.

I usually turn to a game that is close, even if I’m not interested in the teams. A close game with a team I hate, looking at you, Florida, is even better. I’d rather watch the drama than the score.

Sports are soap operas for men (mostly). There’s a good guy, a bad guy, suspense, and drama, and it’s all real and played out live in front of you.

I can see the appeal for some, but I'm not so sure would fit my viewing profile.

I usually just end up watching the same 4 or 5 teams for which I have a fondness for some reason. I don't think I would be very moved by the fact that West Virginia was in the Red Zone against McNeese State or whatever.

i would however be interested if there was a way to basically "subscribe" to an oddball teams games and be able to view them. When I lived in Reno I became a fan of UNR. Their games were cheap and easy to attend, fun, and the backdrop against the casinos downtown was pretty cool. Even after I first moved to Texas their games were on often as they were usually ranked at the time. Now, doing well to get one game a year where I get to see them play live and that is usually a week 0 game.

Think of all the grass that will not be mowed every weekend in the Fall if this were to also occur on Saturdays. There are rumblings that wives are congregating outside HQs in Bristol to not allow this insanity. Fathers will never play catch w their kids, cut the grass, take fam to dinner, do their weekly chores, etc, etc, etc. Oh the humanity!!
