Did tradition matter in 1992 when we stopped annual rivalries with Auburn and Ole Miss that had been happening for years? UGA and Florida weren’t on the tradition radar until the 90s. Things change.

Ought to be Vandy, Kentucky and UGA just for the logical sense of geography.

Bama and Florida are the only truly meaningful rivalry games. Vandy and UK are almost a gimme. I'm not worried about balancing a 9 game schedule with 3 games.

I agree. the three teams we have play d over 100 times are Bama Vandy and UK.

that's the three permanent teams unquestionably.

Florida and Georgia were not even on our radar until 92.

yes they will for sure. with three permanent games you're going to see all the in-state rivals where they exist plus 2 other historical rivals.

Definitely. Throw in Vandy/UK, LSU/Ark, LSU/Ole Miss, maybe SC/UK. The schedule kind of makes itself. And if they stick to the idea of playing everybody at least every other year and making everybody play home and away within 4 years and I think everybody will realize giving back a traditional opponent or two really won’t seem like as big a deal.

TBH I don't see many "traditional" games being lost at all. you have to dig at the bottom of the barrel to find examples.

Frankly if we never played another expansion team again I would be happy. Play all of the remaining SEC founders every year. Let the other SEC teams play whoever the heck they want
