Anyone have any idea why he transferred? Did the staff nudge him towards transferring or was he upset about something in the program?

He looked great against Alabama and I truly wish him all the best.

According to what I read here, there may have been an injury that occurred. I’m sure since it’s past one AM here, others will chime in, in the morning after their hangovers wear off.

Good question OP. I was wondering that myself.
lol “when their hangovers wear off,” but that is indeed true. Half the board has had a long intoxicating week 1!

All I ever read was that it was purely business. He was a new father as of last fall, needed to get the largest payout he could for his last year, and FSU offered more money than Tennessee was ever going to offer. Just maximizing his playing time and his money on the way out.

I can’t ever fault him for that. Being a man and taking care of your family is the priority. Creating wealth to pass onto your children is literally Biblical. I salute him for that if this is the case.

With the timing I would imagine Boo getting promised a role in the offense had something to do with it. Right after Boo announced he was staying Squirrel hit the portal. With what we saw out of Staley today it’s easy to see why he thought he would have a better chance to play elsewhere. Although I do wish we still had him because while we should be ok on the outside we don’t really have another slot guy and with what happened with Boo in the off-season I don’t see how they give him offensive snaps barring injury

This is the TENTH time I’ve seen you spouting nonsense.

Squirrel White entered the portal December of 2024 not too long after the Bowl Game.

The move for Carter to play some offense was BECAUSE of Whites departure.

Sorry he left. Hope he does well. This whole system of players chasing paychecks is sad to see for someone like myself, at 75 years old, longtime fan of the old way in NCAA sports. Please don’t waste keystrokes thinking you’re enlightening me about “ how it really was..”.
When I was still playing High School ball and getting “ interest “ from Bama, one of the first things that came up in the conversation was “ envelopes “ slipped under the door of players dorm rooms on the night before a game. Perhaps it’s the “ Portal thing” that bothers me the most.
I don’t know. Ah well…
GO BIG ORANGE..!!! 👍

IIRC, he wanted WR1 money since he felt like he was effectively WR1 with Bru and Thornton gone. We didn't feel like he was worth it. Also, we were working really hard to pull Tate from OSU and were willing to pay him as a WR1. So that may have has something to do with it as well.

And imo they were right. He had one catch yesterday and his replacement here was out leading receiver!!! Not to mention he was too small to be an adequate blocker.
Tackled too many times last year for a 1 yard gain or loss.

He was worth more to FSU than Tennessee would pay him. He needed the money as well having a new family and with it looking like an nfl future was unlikely. Guy transferred for all the right reasons and I’ll cheer for him every weekend although not FSU. 😂

I don't know, but it seemed like he regressed his last 2 seasons here. Always body catching balls and leaving his feet, even when he didn't need to.
While this is true, he played with a shoulder injury the last part of the 24 season. I wonder if the body catching and jumping was his way of compensating for poor shoulder mobility.

He was clearly hurting in one game (Bama?) and I admired him for staying in and contributing.
