It’s been awhile since I posted anything, but as 2025 season has started I thought I’d share my “Winners and Losers“ from Week 1. Here we go:
1. Winner: VOLS/ Joey Football
Loser: UCLA/ Nico
- This one is too obvious and as such there’s really no need for me to comment.
2. Winner: FSU/Mike Norvell (and Gus)
Loser: Bama/ Kaleb Deboer
- While I haven’t seen “Uncle Lou’s Your Season is Over” video, I’d argue that Bama’s “Dynasty is over” considering the tide has gone 5 and 5 over their past 10 games… with the majority of those occurring against unranked teams.
3. Winner: LSU/ Brian Kelley
Loser: Clemson/ Dabo Swinney
- As a long-term VOLS fan, I certainly appreciate how difficult it is to overcome longstanding trends and at times the associated ridicule of being on the wrong side of them (see our series against Tide and Gators ) but finally getting over the hump. Great job Tigah’s… now just beat Bama and Gators this year, I’m routing for you. I’m taking the enemy of my enemy is my friend approach

4. Winner: Ohio State
Loser: Texas
- While I think both of these fanbases are equally annoying, I‘ll stick with what is best for my “VOLS First” approach. In this case, this weeken’s outcome continued to “soften” the CFP result last year in the horseshoe as well as should quell any notion of those horn fans in Austin about who is “The Real UT” This season. Horns Down
5. Winner: SEC
Loser: Everyone else
- I’m glad all SEC teams were victorious in Week 1 beyond Bama and Texas (see above). Although USC hasn’t started their week 1 game against VT yet, USC’s “alleged” involvement with Michigan’s sign stealing makes me ok if they lose to the Hokies
