Brandon watched the Whirlies warm up, but he didn't participate.

Brandon said he hurt his thumb when he scored the game-winning touchdown in the season opener against West Charlotte.

Grimsley coach Darryl Brown said Brandon would miss a few weeks while his thumb is treated.
