I’m under the impression that a lot of people that follow ETSU also follow UT and root for the Vols as well as the Bucs.
Am I correct on that?
As an ETSU grad, I'd say that's largely true. I've been a Vols fan my whole life, but my parents wouldn't let me go to school in Knoxville since I started college at 16. So ETSU and close to home it was. Worked out just fine, as I met my husband of 30 years there! Today, we're both Vols through and through, and we also cheer on the Bucs when we can. (Side note -- I've also adopted Coastal Carolina since I now live just south of Myrtle Beach.)

With all that said, however, there are some ETSU fans (my late father-in-law was one) who hate UT as the "big bad." But I think those folks are in the minority.

I think most of the smaller TN schools, TTU, APSU, ETSU, UTM, UTC etc. are Vols fans.

I was a Vol fan long before I thought about college (and ended up at Austin Peay).

Graduated ETSU 2013. Don't follow their sports programs, the student body voted NO to bringing back football around the time I was there and they did it anyway. Just not enough support and it ends up falling largely on the students to fund and that's pretty much what happened.

it’s a correct assessment. I live close to the Tri-City Area and am one of the several ETSU-Vol fans. Very common to see people in Johnson City doubling up with a UT shirt and an ETSU hat.

Myself, I don’t closely follow the Bucs, really I only watch them when they have a big matchup in football or basketball, but I do root for them. Was a lot more invested in the basketball program when Forbes was still there, but they’ve been mediocre since he left, so it’s hard to really get up for their games these days.

I graduated ETSU in 2009. I grew up as a Vols fan. I remember listening to the Vols win over ND on the blocked FG, the 98 Arkansas game was my first UT game.

Growing up in the Tri-Cities it just made sense to go to ETSU. Also, during my time in school the football program was shutdown. Not that it would have changed my passion for the Vols.

I was born and raised in Johnson City and went to UT (Graduated in 2010). I grew up going to Bucs games in the Mini Dome and watching the Vols on TV. I'll be at the game on Saturday wearing Orange.

I grew up in Knoxville and went to ETSU for undergrad. A lot of students at ETSU and Tri-Cities locals are UT fans. I'm glad ETSU is getting a check for this weekend, but definitely don't want them to pull an App St (not that I think they will).
Nah, won't happen we got their record setting quarterback. App State that is.
