Once a year I post my uninformed observations about Vol football. Since my entire family are Georgia fans this is a tense week for me. First of all I do not know how next Saturday's game will turn out. My instincts tell me Tennessee will win since this is the only elite SEC team we have not avenged in the Heupel era. I have been watching the Vols for the past 25 years or so. Regardless how Saturday turns out I have a deja vue feeling about this team. For the first time in many a year we appear balanced like '98. The bluecollar grit displayed by "fireman" Joey is especially attractive. I freely admit that I am an orange sunshine pumper. I truly loved Dobbs. Hooker, and Milton. Joey just cements my love of all things Vol! I'll be waiting with baited breath as the Kirbyites take on the Vols at Neyland Stadium!

Became a volunteer fan when I was bout 9…. Holloway was the qb…. Holloway to seivers was the big combination ….john ward on the radio
Grew up hearing about this Holloway guy. Became a nut for the Tennessee Vols with Jimmy Streeter. After several years of losing to Bama on the third week of October my dad would wake me up so we could so we could get the smoker going and smoke a pork shoulder and a boston butt. I asked my dad, why do we make such a big meal? When we know we're gonna lose. He said, son, that's all we have. I talked to my father every Saturday. We both cried when we beat Alabama for the first time in years.

Sorry for the sloppy text.I'm texting and talking moving my daughter. I had to respond. Dobbs against Georgia was a miracle.

Right in here with you guys. UT vs. ala in Legion Field in ‘67 as a high schooler was my first game. Never looked back and my Alma mater has taken me very far.

Beginning my 75th year as a Vol fan. Parents brought me up from Chattanooga for the 1950 Alabama game when I was 3 years old.

Syracuse game was the 71st anniversary of my first road trip, the 1954 Ga Tech game in Atlanta. Must be some kind of record that I have seen the Vols play at 4 different venues in Atlanta; Grant Field(Bobby Dodd Stadium) , Atlanta Stadium, Ga Dome and now Mercedes Benz.

Didnt see a game in 51 or 52 but went to the 53 Duke game. That started a streak of seeing every Vol team in person from 53 until 2023 when I ran into a little thing called Lymphoma and spent most of the season undergoing chemo in the Critical Care unit of Memorial Hospital so didnt make it to a game. I am now working on my new streak of seeing every Vol team since 2024!:)

Hope it is an omen that my 2 favorite Vol teams of alltime, 1965 and 1985, were in "5" years. In case you haven't noticed this year is 2025!

Yea, me too. Became a Vol fan at age 7 when my great Aunt and Uncle took me to a game at Neyland. That's 58 years of Vol fandom.........
You are just a slacker, at age 8 in 1959 I started attending games. Do the math. Bowden Wyatt and TB Glenn Glass started my VOL fandom. Can’t remember if the cannon was on the hill in front of the rotary analog scoreboard then or not. We either won or were robbed from that time forward.

I have the unfortunate fate of living in Georgia. My 2 girls went to UGA on scholarships. They learned how to bark the first week-been barking ever since! I was a Vol fan before I ever moved East. Since I love coon dogs I always rooted for Smokey. I don't go back as far as some of you. My first recollection was Andy Kelly

Same , I turned 44 in aug. Suddenly everything hurts. My first game was the 89 cotton bowl. My great uncle was an alumni from the 50s. He took me and my grandparents to Dallas. I was eight. Great game , still have the ticket stub somewhere. Remember Ole miss in Memphis. I miss Ole Miss in Memphis.
