Playing safe means you're playing scared

38 In regulation vs Kirby is not on the coach… you expect ya players to execute plays they show consistently they can… not all on the kicker but he should’ve made it he made it in OT with ease..
Great offense most of the game but he shut down near the end of the game "hoping" to win with a field goal when there was still penty of time to try for a TD or get much closer. That's playing it safe and not giving the offense a chance to do better. Naturally jmho.

I don’t understand this take. The offense literally just had a holding call before Heupel decided to kick it. I don’t blame him.

Running it 3 straight plays after forcing a turnover was the most conservative scared play calling I've ever witnessed.

Agreed. They had the opportunity to go up two scores and just came out and played for a field goal. Pathetic play calling. Still had chance to win with a field goal and should have. Really tough loss. Georgia did not earn that win - we beat ourselves

I don't see where Heupel went wrong. I agree with the decision to get in FG range and make it an 8 point game. Georgia was struggling to punch it in the redzone and taking a long time to drive down the field. You run some clock, and force Georgia to score a TD and get a 2pt conversion...Just to tie the game.

Sure Georgia did tie it up, but even thr Tennessee still had an opportunity to win it. What if we passed, didn't get any yards, and didn't get in FG range? If that happened Georgia would have a chance to score a go ahead TD. We would have no chance to go into overtime

Lol 42 yards is no chip shot.... you ever tried to kick one?
I understand, yes not really a chip shot; Yet, most of these college kickers are pro or simi-pro with outstanding skill and long distance capability of 50-60 yards. As for me, I couldn't kick a 10 yard field goal or get the ball more than 5 ft off the ground lol.

He messed up both times he ran the ball up the middle to play for a FG. Then, he decides to try the FG on 3rd down instead of moving the ball to the middle of the field and calling a TO! You leave time on the clock too should you make the FG! I still like Heupel and want him as the UT coach. But, his coaching at the end of that game is going to keep a team from ever winning a NC when the chips are down!!!

A lot of youth on this team. We competed like hell just didn’t finish. Coaching could’ve been better at the end, players execution should’ve been better throughout. As a head coach you trust your special teams to get the job done there
Yes, let's blame it on the youth and not Banks nor Martinez for leaving #4 in the secondary the whole game when all he did was committ PIs and get beat like he stole something! That wasn't the total issue. But, it was a huge part of it, NOT THE YOUTH!!!
