It is very clear that even with teams not that good, when a big game comes around that the VOLS need to win, Heupel alters his persona and strategies to play it safe, not have discipline on the team (thus silly mistakes) and here we will be once again: a bunch of meaningless wins and NO championships. He has done a great job of getting the team out of the dungeon, but seems to lack that "special it" that makes for championship coaches. Time to give him a nice bonus, thank him for his service and send him on his way.

OP obviously knows nothing of the final Fulmer years, then Kiffin, Dooley, Jones, and Pruitt...20 yrs of lower than mediocre.

Let's give the man another 3 at least.

If at that time he has become our "Richt" then lets invest and move on.

It's a steady progression to get from where we were to where we want to be. Previous seasons were obvious the talent discrepancy was just too wide. Yesterday proved his system can work against the best of the best if the talent is at least within the ballpark. Nobody should be hanging their heads in shame after taking 1 of the premier programs of college football for the past decade to overtime.

I know we all want instant gratification, but Heupel has us poised to be a continuous playoff power. He's building a program from the foundation on up, and to be a lasting mainstay, that takes time. We'd be foolish to run him off. He's got us to the last rung of the ladder. With time, he'll take the Vols to that final step and have the foundation formed that will enable us to stay there.

Was Saturday your first day as a fan, or you just a troll? We've beaten bama and Florida 2/3, big win over Clemson in the Orange bowl, Georgia is the only hump he can't get over
