“Be it Dont’e Thornton Jr., Jalin Hyatt or Velus Jones, Josh Heupel’s Tennessee offense always seems to have a burner with the linear speed to stretch defenses vertically. This year, Brazzell fills that role — and he might be the best of the group.

He had a 29.5 yards-per-catch average Saturday, so this reception below was arguably the least exciting of his targets, but it also shows that Brazzell is more than just a deep threat.

Brazzell releases off the line and immediately shifts into top gear with the vertical balance to sell the go route. Without tipping his break, he flip his hips at 15 yards and makes a sharp out cut that the cornerback cannot match. The result is a perfectly executed deep out to create separation and move the chains. Most tall, long-legged receivers lack the short-area footwork to make it look this clean, but Brazzell (listed at 6 feet, 5 inches tall) is no one-trick pony.

As the son of a former NFL wide receiver, Brazzell won’t be the first of his family to be drafted, but he does have a strong chance to be an earlier pick than his dad, Chris Brazzell (sixth round in 1998).

Who was that #15 for us calling himself "The Truth"?
Kelley Washington
had one absolutely spectacular game for us and other than that wasn't worth the drama

he was a pro baseball player who was washing out in the minors and decided to try out college football. Got drafted and washed out of the league. Didnt seem he lived up to his potential anywhere

oh he absolutely had the physical tools, he just didnt think he needed to earn anything
I remember reading an article where he would challenge DB’s in an extremely cocky demeanor and was as far from a team player one could be. May have actually been a sports illustrated article.

Before the season, I watched the ‘01 highlight video on YouTube and seeing his play, I had forgotten how he would immediately go down when catching a pass anywhere other than a go type route. Then jump up acting all stupid trying to show off.

Yeah, article stated Fulmer and Co allowed him to act foolish. I’m sure he lost some of the team over that. Plus, he egged Stalworth to come out for the draft with him then he elected to stay. Of course, only got like two games out of him that year.

I had no idea that Chris Brazzell ll was so good. I can see him being a legit #1 wide receiver in the NFL in the near future, and a very good one! Kid has some serious skills!!!

He also had over 150 yards in the SEC Championship game. He averaged 90 yards per game as a Vol. He was really good here.

This past Saturday, Brazzell looked like what we hoped we were about to get out of Justin Hunter in 2011 before the ACL.

caught 9 touchdowns in 4 seasons

always injured
He played less than 1.5 years at Tennessee. He wasn’t “always” injured. He had the greatest season any true freshman receiver ever had at UT, suffered a serious neck injury before the midway point of year 2, and then went to the draft. He was only on campus for 2 seasons.

His arrogance made it easy to forget just how good he actually was. He was crazy talented.
