Nothing is great about our DB's right now and our DLine is good,not great. That 98 team had an elite Defense, something this one doesn't have. Lewis got hurt early in the season, Henry was our hourse that year. We're giving up 27 points a game and 270 through the air.This team is better offensively, but nowhere close on D.

I was also a junior in '98 and I second this.

The '98 team could have EASILY lost to Syracuse, Florida and SHOULD have lost to Arkansas.

We were a baby's breath away from a 3 loss team. but we got ALL and I mean ALLLLLL the breaks in '98.

that team's strength was taking full advantage of those breaks. they truly lived by The Maxims.

We literally have one of the 10 worst secondaries in the entire country through four games. We could improve tremendously and still not even be considered good.

The best DB on this team wouldn’t have seen significant playing time in 1998. I’m not sure our best DB would have started on Heupels first team that he inherited from Pruitt. We’ve actually spent a bunch of money to regress.

The 98 Vols had a dominant defense. This team is an average at best SEC defense. Vols will not be a serious playoff contender until they improve on the defensive side of the ball.

Last year’s defense was more on the level of 98. This year has regressed back to 2022-23 defense.

Last year defense was not close to the 98 defense. Had no one close to Al Wilson.
