It will be disappointing if we don't win out

Yeah, that's right. I think we can win out and we should win out. Will we? Probably not. But we should.

MS? We are a much better team. We beat OK, Vandy and UK away last year, we should beat them in Neyland. AR is at Neyland this year. We have a much better QB this year. Florida is garbage this year. This is the worst Bama team in years.

I want to beat Florida and Bama away, first time in 23 years. I want to finally beat UGA at the SEC championship in December this year. I want a first round bye in the playoffs. I want to be 11-1. We are capable.

Like I said, we probably won't. But I'm tired of the rest of the nation looking down on us. We are a Tier 1 team. We are a Tier 0 fan base. We aren't #24. But being 10-2 and losing in the first round in the playoffs isn't good enough anymore.

Yeah, I'd be careful about that "win out or else" mentality. I've seen a lot of that talk since the Georgia loss. Saw a whole lot of people on here who tried to get over that missed opportunity against Georgia by saying "Tennessee shouldn't lose another game" and so on and so forth. That's a coping mechanism. A way to comfort one's self and get over the pain, by pretending it didn't hurt as much as it actually did. There's no guarantees of that. But it makes people feel better, so they say it. And then they start believing it. Start judging the team against that expectation. "All or nothing." A big bet with no room to back out.

Maybe UT wins out, but winning eleven games is HARD. I don't care which team we're talking about. Winning 11 is hella hard. Winning road games in the SEC is incredibly hard. And considering that the preseason sentiment on Tennessee was mostly 8-4 or 9-3, it feels foolhardy to start in on this "they better win them all or else" talk. I'll be the first to say I want them to win every other game, of course, but I am not expecting Tennessee to make the playoffs. Not until I see how they do at Starkville and Tuscaloosa. Then, and only then, I might start hoping about the playoffs.

And I'm not even going to touch that "10-2 and just in the playoffs isn't good enough anymore." I sat through late 2000s Fulmer, Dooley, Butch, and Pruitt. The worst 15 year stretch in the history of UT football. 10-2 is still good enough. Winning 10 games in a year is still very much good enough. It's not the goal, it's not the national title, but I've sat through enough lifeless Tennessee home games to know that 10-2 with a transfer quarterback who got here in the summer and a duct taped together defense is still damned okay by me.

Besides Alabama on the road, Oklahoma seems to be the biggest test. They had 10 sacks and a safety on Auburn. Their defense front took over at the end and shut down any hope.

But, UT has a solid O line. May have Sanders by then too. Probably be a slug fest.
We’ll have to contain Mateer and keep him in the box. It wouldn’t hurt to sack him 10 times either.

I think your wishful thinking. We all know inevitably this team will lose a game they aren’t supposed to.. it’s happened the last four years under Heupel. Hard to believe we break the 20+ year losing streak in Tuscaloosa/Gainsville this year, especially with a banged up defense. Not trying to be a pessimist but this is what history has taught us..

First of all, we played Kentucky in Neyland last year, get it right. Second, we probably lose 1-2 more for sure. Third, you had it right when you said we probably won't

10-2 even missing the playoffs with the possibility of winning 11 games with a bowl win is by all definitions a excellent football season especially in the SEC.

More likely we end the streak in the swamp than Bryant Denny. still won’t be easy winning at either place bad things tend to happen to us at those stadiums.

I hear yall concerns but we won 11 with a less dominant OL… I think that’s the key to the overall efficiency and Joey is cool and calm so it won’t be because the moment is too big.. our OL has been violent and nasty in the run and pass our TEs block hard and our first team defense is still very solid… lack of depth on defense will be tough and we still may drop one but this is the perfect team for heup underdog mentality and a leader that the team trusts and believes in… it is possible to win out I won’t be surprised if we drop 1 more nor disappointed… the way our opponents teams are playing so far our schedule is strong enough by far for 10-2 to get us in again.. we have a hungry, motivated, talented, physical team and a head coach that is coaching with an expanded bag and an attitude of disrespect..like yall forgot heup is one of the best play callers in the nation and he is showing it with Joey and the weapons we have now… he heard the noise about how everybody wrote us off after Nico… don’t underestimate that factor…

Anyone that thinks Florida is an automatic win in the swamp is drinking some sugar free kool aid!

That Defense is legit. If…IF they get the offense going, we will have a war on our hands.
Very true. Florida might have 6 losses by the time they play us l, but i guarantee they aren’t going to roll over that game will be a war for 4 quarters that we have to win if we want to end that losing streak down there. Their offense is bad right now but their defense will keep them in games.

I was just saying this to a buddy.

Our D is shaky but we hung 40 on Georgia which means we can outscore ANY team left on our schedule.

will we do it? don't know. can we do it and should we do it? hell yes.

I feel Tennessee won't lose another home game, we will beat Florida easily and this is also the year we finally beat Bama on the road. I also just don't see us losing on the road to MSU or UK.

I always have to count on one more loss to a team that Tennessee should never lose to, but even then it's. 10-2 season. hot damn.

The only way we beat Florida easily is they have quit on their season, don't know about bama either. I'll believe we win in Gainesville or Tuscaloosa when I see it. I hope we do.
