Okay not close to the worst announcer ever, but I agree that was a bone-headed call.

I got the mental image of him looking down to read a text from his wife and totally whiffing on the play call. Who knows what it was, but the dude was clearly distracted and mailing it in for that play.

Go Vols!

It was BAD, but not Beth Mowins' BAD. Thank God were better now and don't have to listen to her call our games!

The announcing crew WAS in fact so bad that it earned it's own article on Awful Announcing!

SEC Network announcer badly misjudges field goal

SEC Network announcer Dave Neal said a field goal try was "good" when it was nowhere close during a Tennessee-Mississippi State game.

TBH the ref gave a mixed signal. I saw the kick go wide right but when the ref gave the signal I thought he was calling it good for just a second.

I thought Neal was always a solid announcer that was always given crap games. He's getting old so maybe hes not as good lol. He was more excited after plays than usual imo. That call was hilarious tho.

Who remembers the 3 Daves?

This. Nobody is as bad as Beth or that dude that screams constantly during the Big Noon Fox games.

Yup, been listening to him since the JP Sports days. He's starting to decline a bit and it's sad. I always liked him

Did anybody hear the head referee in the Bama/GA game last night? He was so confused about what was actually happening the guy had to be on some serious drugs or drunk. He said GA declined a third down pass interference call against Bama when GA when inside Bama’s 10 yard line, and later in the game pointed to the wrong side of the field several times when stating who the penalty was against.

I rarely listen to TV sportscast on live events but the entire production yesterday seemed to be the JV team. Bad camera angles, prolonged ridiculous shots of the crowds and over the top sideline celebration shots etc while action is happening on the field. All made for a challenging watch. I’m very particular these days about the games I attend (for several reasons) but if those less than desirable broadcast continue I may have to attend more live games.

To be fair. It wasn’t clear whether he made it or not depending on where you were sitting in the stadium and the refs were slow to give a signal. I’m pretty sure MSU fired off a cannon because they thought it was good.
