I like hearing from the former players and the long-time reporters. Some of their observations are very interesting.
On today's show though, several of them went on about how they preferred playing harder OOC games even with the expanded SEC 9 team schedule. I cannot understand that. Yeah, big name OOC games are nice, but if you have to pick between being 9-3 with those harder OOC games and missing the playoffs, vs being 10-2 with a lighter OOC schedule and making the playoffs ... man, I can't imagine wanting to go 9-3 and missing the playoffs. The corporate consolidation of the sport means that making the CFP is the only thing that matters now. It's the focus of all the media, the talking heads. If you aren't in the CFP chase, they don't talk about you and they don't feature you as often. I don't understand preferring to put the program behind the eight ball like that.
