Revisiting The Preseason AP Top 25 Poll

Going into the 2025 season Texas was ranked 1st, Penn State 2nd, and Clemson 4th. All three are now unranked. It just goes to show how useless preseason ranking are.
But Ive enjoyed watching them fall. College football is entertainment for me. Take away those preseason polls and you take away some of my enjoyment.

Most everyone knows what you know about the polls, but it doesn't matter to some of us. Why so many bish about something that literally doesn't matter is mind boggling.

We're into week 7 and people still starting threads about how the polls dont matter. Lol.

Who honestly thought UCLA was going to beat Penn State though? If anyone says they did, they are lying. UCLA had never led in a game until yesterday.

None of it matters now that there is a real playoff in the FBS. Take care of business and you'll get a shot at the natty, and the AP and the coaches have nothing to do with it. Texas, Penn State and Clemson aren't taking care of business.

Texas is laughable, though. Those idiots in the AP poll voting them #1 after two years of whining because golden boy wasn't on the field, and then we find out he makes Chris Simms look like he was great. At least Sark had the guts not to put the golden boy out there until he had no other option.

But that's Texas' problem. I'm more interested in the original UT taking care of business against the pigs.

Half of why we enjoy watching them fall is so we feel the experts arent actually any smarter than we are.

yes, useless except when ranked high one loss doesn't usually put you out of the top ten, but if you were not top 10 puts you probably top 15. But they are really useless.

Truly useless indeed. Idk why people get so wrapped up in the press nerds voting for a little number next to a school's name before the season even starts when nobody's seen anything.

Wish I put $$$ on them in the 2nd quarter to come back from the 21- 3 though........šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø. (An interception with a fumble recovery for a TD HAS TO BE a 20k to 1 bet).
It was one of the wildest plays I've seen in a long time. I need to start threads more threads when the Titans are struggling during a game. I wasn't expecting that comeback lol

I've never seen 3 out of the Top 5 struggle this bad. That's what shocks me

Goes to show how useless most reporters are too.
That for sure. They dropped Texas out after losing to a talented Florida team yet leave Penn State in after losing to a horrid UCLA team. Makes total sense.

Edit: Scratch that. I was mixing and matching polls it seems. Both are out of the AP. Fair.

Take it easy folks. Just take comfort in knowing that Notre Dame’s competitive games with them taking L’s doesn’t matter; they’re poised now for a return to the playoff and with a very healthy roster thanks to a light schedule to finish out their last few months. 0-2 didn’t look good, but 10-2 is good enough. They’ll be healthy enough to make waves in the playoffs šŸ™„

I dont think anyone was. Even the announcers talked about what a weird game that was. Im just glad they won't finish the year winless........still don't think Callahan is the answer.
