Good article. Anyone that's watched football this season knew Texas was overrated and Florida's D was good. Easiest bet to make this past weekend. Vandy might only win 2 more games this year.
I hope Joey Aguilar continues to ball out. Not just because I love Tennessee but his story and path just make it that much sweeter. Even when mistakes have happened, you can see an accountability / calmness when the TV pans to his face. He deserves this moment.

On this quote from the article: "As is his custom, Josh Heupel prescribed healing, fundamentals for freshmen and a brief holiday for all. Staff focus was on recruiting. Same format last season turned into a humbling upset loss at Arkansas."

To me the biggest difference between this time last year and this year is that we have some real leadership and experience at the QB position and the team as a whole seems to have come together more during the offseason. The defense is gradually healing as well which is a good sign for the back half. This team has a good chance to do something special if they can stay healthy. I'm trusting the staff won't need to fire them up for this one.

I can only imagine how much I would hate bye weeks if I were a coach. Players getting out of their structure. Getting some downtime to start consuming rat poison from family, friends and social media.
I think Saban's most incredible ability was to get 18-23 year old elite athletes to focus their mind on the process and task. His teams were exceptional in that.

Prep for bye weeks starts at the start of fall camp. You have to have kids bought in an focused.

Heupel has done a pretty good job at that in his tenure here. I think a lot of people are stuck on last year's loss to Arkansas, but a lot of that was on Nico running for his life and not able to hit a pass.

We have a much better OL this year and Aguilar just needs to stay focused on hitting the plays Heupel is putting in front of him.

The one that was most impressive was when he managed to convince his guys that Butch calling Bama "the red team" was intentionally disrespectful, when in reality it was the opposite.

Honestly, I could not have told you one scant fact from Bobby's so called crash 13 years ago, but to think that Arkansas brought back their disgraced coach says a LOT about their program and, Fayetteville. Apparently, they have a bit of trouble attracting good, solid coaches - and while one cannot discount that they do attract some good local talent, who wants to live, play or coach in Fville?

No SEC game for us from here to eternity will ever be easy again, but with this much calamity in Fville, we are in the drivers seat for this weeks game for sure. Execute, hold the rock, and we will win. From there, our schedule hits the SEC gauntlet. Go Vols - stay focused. Baby steps.

Agree. Hope I’m wrong but, at this stage, I just don’t see us beating AL, FL at their places. I do see us probably dropping one more and ending up with a total of four losses. Again, hope I’m wrong.

I'm generally a sunshine pumper but the State game made me a realist. I really can't focus on rankings or win totals now. The Vols are a good team surrounded by many other good teams. Every game could be a slugfest and we need to focus on one game at a time and let the record reveal the winners. It's great we're getting some injured stars back and we need Joey "the gamer" to keep on keeping us in games. Go Vols! castrate the hogs!

Tennessee will continue to improve as the season moves along. A very good buy young Oline is improving every game. Sanders being available continues to improve their performances. The defense is beginning to get some very important injured -layers back from injury. Not only will this improve our run defense, it will also improve the play of the Linebackers and the secondary. Timing of these improvements will pay dividends in the last half of the season.

Yep those two games last Saturday at bama and florida made me think we are in for some challenges. Both ran some new intricate offensive plays that the UT defense better be looking at. And ran them very well.

It comes down to @bama, @Florida and Okl at home, can't over look Vandy but what we do against those 3 will be our season, personally I see atleast 2 more losses could be 3 but I'll settle on 2 for a 9-3 season

That’s where I’m at. I’ll take splitting those four 2-2 and it would be a very successful season, but if I had to take one loss, I would pick OU. The others I can’t stand to lose to.
