I mean, let’s be honest: did anyone outside of this board think the initial spread was reasonable? It was always going to correct sooner or later.
With what I believe was 2 fumbles inside the Memphis 10 yd line that eliminating 1 would have won the game. Expect a hard-fought game vs a highly motivated Arkansas team. Fourth quarter game..I think the original was a reaction to the Notre Dame game. Arkansas only lost to Ole Miss at Ole Miss by 7. And they lost to an undefeated Memphis team by 3 at Memphis.
The Opening Lines are determined by power ratings, So UT was 9 points better based on the ratings + 4 for Home Field. Action on either side determines how the line moves. There is more money bet on Arkansas; hence the line moved from 13.5 down to 10.5. That action was based on Ark firing Pittman, and Petrino getting rid of the deadwood from the defensive staff. Gamblers know that players often respond positively to such change. It's a second chance for them. And they also know Petrino can coach football. And they also know that the VOLS are headed to Bama next week..Doesn’t this happen often though? They set the line high at the beginning of the week to attract certain bettors and then it swings back the other direction by gameday? Both defenses are bad so most people were expecting a tight back and forth game anyway.
There is no reason to think other wise this … notre dame goes in their house curb stomp them. Our defense is just as good or better than the lucky Irish …. Ole miss is obviously overrated . There fixing find out as oleTennessee is going to beat the breaks off that razorback.
You’re comparing a Pittman coached Arkansas team with a Petrino coached team that also has an entirely new defensive staff. This will be a tight game - mark my words. There is no reason to think other wise this … notre dame goes in their house curb stomp them. Our defense is just as good or better than the lucky Irish …. Miss gets into the mest of their sec schedule… vOLS by 17 at least
yeah…… I have confidence that we’re gonna pull this off, but I’m only going to believe we rout this team when I see it. And hopefully I do see it in a few hours. You’re comparing a Pittman coached Arkansas team with a Petrino coached team that also has an entirely new defensive staff. UCLA's new OC beat Penn State with only a week to prepare last Saturday. An entirely new staff that's had a week to prepare? Why is that a positive?
Maybe but that OC was already on staff. This is an entirely new group of coachesUCLA's new OC beat Penn State with only a week to prepare last Saturday.
I don’t think it’s a positive for Arkansas, but there is already precedence. Though I don’t think it’ll make much difference, as their defensive woes are a talent issue more than anything, as far as I can tell.
Basically because you have a new staff. This game comes done to talent and depth more so than change of staffs. The offense loses nothing but the defense may pose problems but depth, talent, and venue will be the difference. If the venue sits on their hands like they did for GA then watch out.An entirely new staff that's had a week to prepare? Why is that a positive?
This always leaves me with a sinking feeling. The line has shifted down to -10.5 Vols suddenly, and it seems like a ton of gamblers are hammering Arkansas instead of Tennessee even after that shift. What do they know???
One, they’ve had two weeks to prepare, and two, they are now led by a proven successful college head coach who has control of the personnel and the game plan. Again, this will be a tight game no matter what the sunshine pumpers think. An entirely new staff that's had a week to prepare? Why is that a positive?
