We've kind of been in a slump the last few games and we always seem to have bounce back games after stinkers and this Saturday is the perfect opportunity for us to get right. The coaches and players know how big this game is for our aspirations as a program and we've had success against Bama in recent years so confidence shouldn't be an issue in this game. People have noted that Heupel even seemed somewhat fiery when he gave his press conference on Monday. I think we'll see a different team come out of the locker room Saturday in terms of focus and intensity. Just a gut feeling. And no I'm not drinking. I'm about to start a graveyard shift. Go Vols! WGWTFA!

Weird thing I feel better about this game than I did going into the Arkansas game. Everyone is talking about how bad the defense is, sometimes it balances out, swings the other way in a way no one expected. We will see. Also I like Heupel as the hunter instead of being hunted, he is much better in those situations usually.

Yeah. Kirby Smart definitely hunts us because he openly talks about how he never beat Tennessee when he played for Georgia. He always mentions that and then has everybody locked in when they play us. Their OC always miraculously calls the perfect game against us.

As far as our defense is concerned. I've always said the defense was better than people gave them credit for. And now the defense is consistently causing turnovers and even scoring touchdowns. So who gives a crap if we don't look good stats wise in terms of yards given up? The only thing that matters is getting enough stops so that you can come out ahead at the end of the game. Our defense has done that in every game to this point. If we made that field goal against Georgia we'd be undefeated right now and ranked in the top 5 probably.

My only problem with this game is that it is away vs a main rival and I know we will have close to 10 penalties. Our vols team never is disciplined ever. False starts, one offensive lineman down the field, roughing the passer or kicker. A couple of pass interference that had little to do with the play. I love Heupel as a coach but this is always an issue. This is not the best Bama team.

Doesn't matter. This rivalry has always been streaky and it's been trending back our way the past few years. The only thing we really have to prepare and account for is shenanigans from the officials. I fully expect David Smith to trot out as head official and that guy is an Alabama grad who hates Tennessee. Yes, an Alabama grad is the head official for a lot of our conference games.

^^Nothing to see there at all *blue font*

We suck in zone defense so we better be much better in man to man. We left the middle open all game against Ark. We are worst in the SEC in pass defense too. Unless we can get home and sack Simpson, it’s gonna be a frustrating game.
Press man and blitz the heck outta them and let the chips fall where they may. They play zone/ prevent and its death by a thousand cuts but it's still death. Go down swinging. You know you're gonna get the shaft from the zebras so go all in.

You mean Ken Williamson? Since he's a bama grad so he can't officiate bama games can he? Surely not.

I feel better than I did prior to Arkansas funnily enough. I still wouldn't be surprised to see us run off the field, but I'm picking up a little of what @ConantheVolbarian is putting down. Alabama has played three tough games in a row and played at least their B game in each; definitionally, you can't be at your best every week. We have played our C or D game the last two weeks. Hopefully we step it up across the board.

We might get them in Knoxville next year i would be shocked if we beat them this season
Exactly what this Handicapping service says.
2H ALABAMA over Tennessee - The home team is 4-0 SU/ATS in this series. Bama is 16-2 SU

and they’ve covered 13 of the last 19 mtgs. Two years ago Bama was out for revenge. They domi-
nated Tenn in the 2H and won 34-20 (-9). LW Bama led Mizzou 27-17 4Q but gave up a late td for a

push. QB Ty Simpson has a 16-1 ratio and WR’s Bernard and Williams could have big games against
Tenn’s banged up secondary that is #86 in our Pass D rankings (67%, 9-4). Both tms #1 rushers were
hurt LW and are a ? for this game. Heupel is 1-6 as an AD and the Vols offense struggles on the road
(43 ppg/510 ypg home, 27 ppg/374 ypg road LY).
Bama is laying single-digits and we will go with
series history and take the home team in a revenge spot. FORECAST: ALABAMA by 17

We won’t beat them in Tuscaloosa. You do realize penalties enforced last week were 10-1. Wait until Saturday. The proportion of penalties won’t be as bad, but they will come at critical times in drives to help them and hurt us. Also, Bama has not lost a home SEC game in over 10 years according to Google (roughly 40 games) and they have the nation’s longest home winning streak. Over the course of their 10-game streak against us in Tuscaloosa, the games are not close. I live in Alabama and they usually play one of their top two games of the year against us. Sadly, we lose by double digits again.

Obv this is one dude's opinion but an interesting take... Film Guy Network said he actually likes us playing zone and forcing offenses to slog their way down the field rather than playing man/press and getting beat for big chunk plays (which happened the very few times we played man against Arky). Reason being is that it gives our DL and pass rush more downs/opportunities to create a TO via strip sack and/or disruptive plays, etc. Yes you give a lot of underneath stuff with the cushions/windows that zone creates but I guess he views it as the lesser of two evils.

Maybe go zone on 1st and 2nd down and then man/press and bring pressure if it's 3rd and >5 ??
