In my opinion, that would be an interesting pairing because Penn State needs to come into the 21st Century offensively and Golesh would also bring the old school disciplined approach they say they value up there. But more importantly, I don't want him landing a job in the SEC. Golesh taking the Florida job is the ultimate nightmare scenario for us

I don’t because I want Penn State to suck.

Sorry, Penn State is about to, possibly, enter the wilderness for a decade. I am so SHOCKED that institutions like this can't understand there is a way out but will never do it. I mean, like UT, I'm guessing Penn State has a business school? Do you think for a moment any business approach would tell you to keep on trucking .... like everyone else??? It's beyond insane. Yet, odds are they will now enter the wilderness...because the odds have already said - definitely NOT likely to improve. Having Ohio State and Michigan...much less Oregon in the conference, odds a REAL good they're headed to mediocrity.

Arguably TN got lightning in a bottle, and it came at a GREAT time. Is it sustainable? History says for a time yes, and for a time no. You never know when either happens.

No Golesh isn't getting the job, IMO.

UCLA should go for Golesh imo. That offensive style will cause trouble for everyone but Ohio State, Oregon, and maybe Michigan.
They should but if I am him and UCLA calls, I throw my phone in ocean. If they call me again on the new phone, I just burn that phone. Or, I suppose maybe I could just change my number. I guess it depends on my phone insurance.

I think that the right coach can build a good program there. I’d tell a couple of guys on the team Theyarealeavin when I got the job tho

IMO, Golesch is in a great spot at USF. He’ll get enough players to stay around the Top 25 and keep his name hot. If it were me, I’d ride that until I got the right opportunity.

Penn State just fired a coach that won something like 34 games in the past 3 seasons…only Day and Smart win more. Plus, it is in the frozen tundra of nowhere. It would be a no for me. He might get Florida, which is infinitely more attractive to me.

Grew up in Brooklyn and Ohio. Coached at Toledo, Illinois and Iowa State so is familiar with the Big-10 and those recruiting grounds. I just don't know if he would want that job over the one he has. He has far less pressure where he is and is due for a big raise. USF is investing into football.

Penn state can pay infinitely more than USF and it’s not close. Also he would have a chance at a national title at penn state. They’re going to be ranked highly every year when they have even an average team.

They won’t go after him though. Probably end up with Nebraska’s coach.

I could see Arkansas maybe going after Golesh if Petrino doesn’t work out.

Golesh will probably get a shot at a mid level P4 program, but not as prominent as Penn State. But I do think he would be a far better hire than Matt Rhule who was too scared to play us.
I could see him somewhere like NCST. They'll probably move on after season, and Golesh will quickly school The NFL GOAT @ UNC in CFB. Think he'd take the ACC by storm.

I think PSU will make Cignetti their top priority. If they cant get him, I dont know, maybe Matt Campbell. Or here's an outside the box thought, what about Dabo Sweeny? He may be be fed up at Clemson and ready to try a new location.

I like Golesh, but PSU is not about to hire someone barely 2 years into his first head coaching gig at a mid-major school.

All I can see is that a lot of teams are going to overpay for mid coaches. Way to many openings already and more to come. There are just not enough "high quality elite" coaches to fill all the openings.

I believe Matt Rhule (Nebraska) has this job sewed up. His connections to PSU, plus his track record, give him a rocket boost upwards.

Cignetti just signed a new contract at IU this week. He's staying put. IU was smart and locked him down
