This may not help most of the “fire all the coaches” group, but we could be Penn State, Florida, Florida State, or LSU right now. All of them have fired or will most likely fire their coaches soon.

The upcoming coaching carousel is going to be a bloodbath.

You also have Michigan, OU, and Auburn getting closer to the edge after underwhelming seasons.

Heupel has 2 ten win seasoned under his belt here along with a CFP appearance. Things need to change for sure, but he has more than earned respect. I hate being almost good enough but the program is a national power again that teams fear.

And this team still has everything to play for. We just got to get our issues addressed and refocus. We can play and coach better. GBO

I really don’t want to be on that carousel, so many coach’s will be leaving one team going to another so there is no one better that what you had or have. Makes no sense especially for us after the 15 years of hell

We are just a few plays away from 2-4 (ARK, MS). We have benefited from fairly soft schedules the past few seasons, and definitely haven’t made the best of it this year.

Which would be mathematically impossible since we’ve played 7 games. But to your point we’re closer to being 6-1 then we are 5-2. I hate Tim Banks and this team is undisciplined as hell but let’s keep perspective.

Na, been disappointed by tennessee football for 20 years. We had a great year in 22, and Heupel is generally winning more games but in totality this just ****ing sucks. This is not where we should be. The 40+ crowd knows what I'm saying.

In new playoff era, w/ transfer portal impacts, you're going to have more losses than in the past. However, the teams that end up in the playoffs are the ones who don't make critical mistakes or have coach errors. Good example here is UGA. Yes, they're talented...but when they get behind, they just grind and get aggressive and don't make critical mistakes. Vols don't have the culture yet...not there on the field or sidelines. Doesn't mean we are a bad team or that the season is over. Just need to tighten up, not have self inflicted errors, and play aggressive ball. We are in the "big middle" in SEC and going to need some things to go our way.

Everyone was doom and gloom before the season with the uncertainty at qb. We beat Georgia, just missed the field goal. JA’s worst throw of the year or it’s a different game. Perspective People

I agree with this point. I have Gator, Seminole, Tiger fans who won't even watch their teams play against a tough opponent. Still a good time to be a Vol fan. We just can't win them all. It could definitely be much worse!

Personally, I would like to see Coach Heupel stop hiring offensive analysts and start hiring defensive analysts.
Well, he desperately needed offensive analysts, he got "figured out" because CJH was getting steadily strangled. I'd say he did good. And yes, I totally agree, it's past time for some defensive analysts.

I'll give you all a life experience. For two years +, I wrote performance reviews for people who worked for me. Inevitably there where 2-3 people who I had a really TOUGH time making them competitive for promotion (i.e. they were VERY rough to write for). Retrospectively there was NO WAY I could do it, unfortunately I only realized that myself 2+ years later, realizing they - by virture of their position, could never succeed (not their fault). Once I gained full control over the division after 2 years, I eliminated those jobs. Why? First and foremost, the poor people in it had NO chance of promotion - I don't care how good they might have been. NO CHANCE, (hell it could've been me and I've had no chance). Next thing I know my bosses are in my office asking why I eliminated the jobs. You'd have thought I was killing kittens or something. It was that bad. I guess I got my point across enough that they gave me some room to operate....and as time progressed, they gave me more. But most of all? I did those folks a favor...the job was NEVER going to be competitive - so why the hell retain it? I didn't, and you know what, it worked out immensely!!!!!! For everyone!!

So, what's the point? You have to eliminate jobs because they're not relevant anymore, you have to fire "people" because they're not getting it done. In the midst you may also have to help train people - recognizing they have potential but need help. If you're not going to fire Willy Martinez or Banks, then friggin get their azzes some help!! You brought in folks to "evolve" your offense - WTF would you not bring in folks to help Banks and company?? Of course, if he resisted it (reminder, who's in charge?), then just fire his ass - but what true professional wouldn't swallow his pride and go with the program? What person at Bank's stage of his career would fight it? That's just stupid. I guess we'll have to wait until the offseason to find out.... but man, I would've loved to have had CJH role at his $$$$ and gifted time. I sure as hell didn't get that. He needs to learn and understand really fast.... what I did may years ago. You're not here because you're a buddy, you're here to get a particular job done. So F'ing do it. You stand at the podium, you tell us about the goals for the program, but you can't manage your staff in a manner that gets you there?
