I seldom post on VolNation, but I read the forum every day, usually twice a day or more. Our losses grieve me more than anger me. And I'm not optimistic that we will go undefeated the rest of the season. Probably more grief ahead. No one who knows me would call me a sunshine pumper, but I want to let a little sunlight in for those in the doldrums. I know it won't help many, but if it helps some, that's great.

I agree with you that we have not played as well or coached as well as we needed to this season. We have some deficiencies. And these have kept us out of the top ten in the polls and may very well keep us out of the playoffs. However, I thought it would be good to look at some other teams' seasons for some perspective.

We would feel worse if we were fans of Clemson, or Texas, or LSU, or Florida, or South Carolina, Arizona State, Florida State, Michigan, and Illinois. All of these teams were ahead of us in the polls to start the season, and now they are behind us.

We are ranked higher in the latest AP poll than we were when we started the season. We have the second highest ranking of teams with two losses (Notre Dame is ahead of us).

We have not lost to a team where we were favored to win.

The only teams to beat us are ranked 4 and 5 in the AP poll

Alabama beat three ranked teams before they played us. We did not beat any ranked teams before we played them. I agree that the game should have been a lot closer.

Tennessee has been a bucket of lightbulbs free program for many years now. That is what is sad.
