DW press conference

If you watched what he said and you defend DW, I don't know what to say. He talked to Tony V 1 time in the last 5 days! Disgraceful
That's pretty bad. The only title-winning head coach on campus and DW has clearly let his ego get in the way.

I understand money matters more these days, but I was already pretty sick of Danny White's salesman schtick and his slow-boil sellout of things that make UT what it is.

All he cares about is the wine and cheese crowd, he's pricing the average fan out. He also moves the student section way down the right field line in baseball. He's not as good as I and many others thought
I get that the man is in a tough spot with a lot of stakeholders. No matter how often people want to say "it's business", at the end of the day these teams are still representing a state institution that means a whole lot to a whole lot of people.

DW is making no effort to listen to the mass of stakeholders. He's running the same path that venture capitalists always end up doing, which is pennypinching his market and eventually killing it.

I heard this same complaint back in the sixties and seventies with Woodruff and Dickey. They only cared about the cocktail crowd. Of course with them it was true.

I mean, sure. But….

1. You have a national champion coach.

2. He considers leaving.

3. You talk to him once in 5 days.

Justify it. We’ll wait…..
You guys are just looking at only one piece of the big pie. That gets a lot of people expressing ideas that have no logic.

Why did nobody ask Danny White about what he was willing to offer Tony Vitello to stay? Or how those pitches were going. If he would’ve spoken to how he tried everything possible to keep him, Vols fans could put that to rest.
Because all of us pretty much know that's not how it went down. Talking to the man once in 5 days puts to lie the idea that he tried much of anything at all to keep him.

DW should’ve kept that to himself…or texted it to a buddy. If it shakes out that he let the best coach in the country walk without putting in real effort to retain him, then he’s already a dead man walking. He won’t hire E, so that grace is gone. Wait until the new coach loses his first mid-week game or his first weekend series. Total meltdown.

I didn’t hear the press conference but What do you want White to say or differently? Coach was compensated for his success. The stadium renovations are under way.

CTV considered taking a MLB mgr position, not another college job. Money had nothing to do with him leaving so White talking to coach five times a day wouldn’t change anything.

Don’t ask for an apology. That’s freaking weak, narcissistic BS. Give Tony his flowers (that he 1000% deserves), wish him well, and briefly detail the process moving forward. That PC wasn’t about him, but he sure made it that way. The lunacy of admitting that he only spoke to him once in 5 days…ESPECIALLY while all this is raw…shows he is totally tone deaf and has no idea the hole he’s dug himself.

How old are you 15?

That press conference was a **** show. No one in their right mind would want to work for him with that type of leadership.

Btw...this isn't the first national champion coach we've lost on his watch.

Nah, that’s your IQ with such a ridiculous comment. I didn’t belittle anyone, simply made a comment.

But once again, we have fans wanting to fire our most successful AD in yrs. I will go back and listen to press conference, but I won’t jump to conclusions w/o all the facts. White deserves that imo, regardless how unpopular it is with some on here. 🤦‍♂️
