I wonder how many of you have as well. After a loss, I used to watch every press conference especially from the head coach, every columnist article I could find and then call in talk shows for the next few days trying to hear opinions on what went wrong.

Since 2023, after a loss, I quit listening or watching a single thing about the previous game and it’s not that I forced myself not to, just didn’t have the stomach for the why or excuses. After a loss, just a big disconnect. Not gonna wast any more days on being miserable after a loss especially like last Saturday’s lack of effort. Anybody else moved into this mode?

I moved into this mode about 15 years ago.

Yea, I wasn’t confused about why we lost - we just made too many mistakes. We can always question why certain plays were called but it still comes down to execution…so I don’t watch too much after a win or a loss…

I’ve always kind of taken a few days off following a big loss regardless, especially against one of the rivals. This one stung because the team is capable of playing better than they did Saturday. It’s still a far cry from the Dooley, Butch, and Pruitt years when we just basically had no shot. I’ll be watching again on Saturday and invested.

The older I get the more I have come to the realization that it is beyond ridiculous to let how a bunch of teenage boys perform on the field affect whether I have a good week or a bad week. I have learned to simply enjoy and appreciate any day that I get to watch my football, baseball or basketball Vols compete!!

Aging and a growing family has a way of changing perspectives. College sports are entertainment and down in the pecking order for most of us.

I still enjoy it, but it’s a blip on the radar whether we win or lose.
Agree. I find my grandkids and improving my golf game much more enjoyable than living and dying with college sports. Still enjoy the wins but I don’t agonize over losses like I used to. As you said, there’s a pecking order in life the older I get. I also try to avoid this place for a few days after losses. Not worth the trolls and incessant whining.

Good for you. I couldn't imagine getting as worked up as some dudes on here get about a game after a loss. There is being upset and then being such a child that you resort to calling the coach fat over a game. Well adjusted adults can be disappointed without being emotionally destroyed to the point of lashing out.

I’ve always been the same. I want to win and happy when we do. It feels bad when we lose but as the week moves on it’s on to the next game. But it doesn’t ruin my life I have other interest like fishing, arrowhead hunting and friends and family. I hope I always enjoy the wins and handle the defeats, they can still disappoint without it ruining your life. Life is great, God is greater and enjoy the family and your likes. Not everyday is going to be great, but there is always the next day. GBO

There was a time I was still upset on Monday over a loss. The last several years as soon as our game is over I turn the channel and enjoy other games.

What does upset me however, is paying a coach (Banks) very well and seeing a sorry product and bad effort on the field.

I’m 53 and was at UT from ‘90-‘94. For the most part losses were few & far between. I was like most of you and the losses hurt.

Nowadays, especially for most of this century, UT has been irrelevant. I still go to games but if UT loses it doesn’t have any bearing on my life. Carry on!

As I’ve lost my hair, gained a ton of wrinkles and become an empty nester to 3 boys, I have realized that living in the moment is what it’s about for me… the highs and the lows. If affects me in the moment, then I go on with life. I am past the point of letting a game, I have absolutely zero influence on, influence any long term feelings. Yes, I have BVS as much as the next VOL fan, but you have to be elated or down in the dumps, only in that moment. Then let it go and focus on things that matter. Family, friends and living your best life.

To be fair, the wins against a strong opponent do have some lasting euphoric effect on my week. 🤣🤣

I used to be like this too. It is true that with CJH, I've been more tuned into the team/game outcomes - probably since '22. But honestly, with all that is going on in CFP (NIL, coaching carousel, E$PN, etc.), my fervor of the Vols or CFP in general isn't ANYTHING like it was in the late 80s and 90s. I suppose, now that I'm thinking about it, , my attendance at the 2001 SECCG against LSU was the tipping point. I've been on a very gradual -2 degree slide ever since. '22 was a uplift for sure, but there been several potholes since.
