You wrote in another thread that you're a new Tennessee fan. What's your story? How/why did you recently become a Tennessee fan?
I will try not to make this too long lol—some of my best memories are going to Rutgers football and basketball games here in New Jersey with my Dad right in the heyday ( undefeated in football and basketball in 1976 plus the Final Four). My Dad wasn’t a big fan of pro sports. He was fighting in World War II when he was 16. Birth certificates were only a guideline during the war which were frequently overlooked. After the war, he worked his butt off doing anything to take care of his wife and four children, including working in the NJ mines, driving a bread truck at 4 AM, using dynamite , bartending, you name it. I think the concept of people making hundreds of thousands of dollars a year to throw a football or put a ball through a metal hoop wasn’t something he could go along with. He would hate NIL !Fast forward to the late 90s and I lived in the outskirts of Columbia, SC. Got season tickets to both Clemson and USC and loved going to the games with big crowds, despite both schools usually hovering around .500. That was the first time I thought about taking a drive up to Knoxville to see Neyland, but never got around to it. On TV, the atmosphere always looked awesome. I have always rooted for underdogs and against schools like Michigan, Penn State, Alabama. So in 2024, I ended up watching the whole Alabama/Tennessee game and really got into it. Jumped on the bandwagon right then . Didn’t realize Tennessee had so many National Championships. Then started following the basketball and baseball programs. Easy to follow the teams because I have never heard of a college that has so much media coverage available on radio/Youtube. Made the decision to try to get to a game and had a GREAT time at the Arkansas game. As I was getting off the shuttle at the baseball stadium, the atmosphere is just off the charts outside and inside the stadium. Already decided I am going to try to make another game next year. It is a long drive, but other than the Washington/northern Virginia mess, it is a wide open scenic route. So that is my story.—I really appreciate your site and members.

Already looked at the schedule—leaning toward Kentucky or Auburn. As much as I loved the Arkansas atmosphere, a guy sitting next to me said I need to see a night game. I loved the 4:15 kickoff time though. I really hate Noon kickoffs. I know TV decides these things now, but I wish kickoff times would be decided in the Summer.

I was at Kroger Field for the game and it has to be the worst college game experience in the SEC. Playing “My Old Kentucky Home” before kickoff is like rocking a baby to sleep. The tailgate scene is pretty good, but once you get in the stadium,,,

It was my first time at Kroger field so no clue how it compares to previous years but tons of orange. Here is the student section midway through the third quarter 😂

Said the same. The fans I met were super nice but what a terrible atmosphere. They knew they were about to get their 💩 pushed in I guess. The first down announcement and cat noise is pretty much the most annoying thing ive ever heard in my life.

This is becoming more and more common in college football. Students come in late and leave for any excuse—blowing the other team out, getting blown out, too hot, too cold, raining, might rain, report of zombies in the area, etc. At some point, schools will have to think about cutting back student allotments. I would rather see schools sell some kind of promo package to families on a game by game basis than see thousands of empty seats . Just my two cents.
