People expecting coaches to be fired are going to be disappointed I think. I personally don’t care if they get fired or not but it’s likely not happening on a team that is potentially winning 9-10 games. But hey maybe they drop a couple here coming up and then it probably will lead to some changes, either scheme or firings. I just remember how firing coaches didn’t help anything around here for the better part of 15 years.

Martinez is going nowhere as long as he keeps putting guys in the first round of the draft.

And Inge is probably the smartest asst coach on the staff and the players love him. Freshman Perlotte looked good in limited snaps again today. Got a sack too.

Inge landed Harmon and Perlotte in 25, his first class at UT. Both Bluechips.

Then in 2026 class he did even better, landing two LBs ranked #74 and #75 overall in the class. Both top100 players, both chose us over Bama, UGA etc just like Harmon and Perlotte before them.

We will be better at LB next year, and should be even better in 2027. Coach Inge isnt going anywhere. Nobody on the defense staff is IMO. Our defense sucks because we have been without BOTH STARTING CORNERS ALL YEAR.

People are so dumb. Griping like crazy after a blowout win on the road in the SEC. Some people don't want to be happy

Simmer down. Not talking about firing the head guy. But we do need to upgrade some position coaches and a DC IMO. JMO

Do you think the defensive staff suddenly forgot everything they knew?
We were in the dam cfp last year because of our d. It's the same staff.
He has fielded one good defense - last year.

I don’t disagree totally with this line of argument / your point.

How much “run” does last year give him? One more year to see it correct?

Completely agree. A 22 point win nonetheless. I said earlier this week I just wanted a comfortable win in conference play. Well, I’d call a 22 point win comfortable, if not a blowout.

So you are for upgrading those spots?
I’m saying if you want those coaches fired you’re probably going to be disappointed. Personally, I don’t know if they need to be fired or not. The defense is bad and I don’t know if it’s personnel or coaching. Maybe it’s a combination of both? They’ve also been snake bit by injuries too this year but maybe that’s an excuse.

Oh they need to be. But I don’t think they will. I don’t think JH has fired an assistant before. We really need Banks to get an offer after last year. Somewhat telling he didn’t. I manage my expectations with this head coach. I like him but he has a blind spot with certain things

We need faster linebackers and our safeties are just not SEC caliber, as much as it pains me to say. I will admit that I’ve never been a fan of our guys being coached to play the receiver’s hands instead of turning around for the ball. We’re not the only ones who do that though.

Our safety is in Miami. The young LBs are fast. But we know they won’t play over the older guys.

And who has he put in the 1st round for Tennessee the past 4 years??
He hasn’t done that at Tennessee in 9 years here. He might be able to claim one or two guys after this draft, but the guy has been garbage for nearly 20 years. You could put together an hours long video of his guys getting burned, but you’d struggle to fill a commercial break with videos of his guys getting their heads around on a pass.

The fact that people would still defend him after 9 years of mostly horrible results is absolutely mindblowing.

Perlotte needs to continue to see action. Spillman has talent. We didn’t have Carter tonight. We do have some freshman linebackers with talent and a good linebacker class coming in. We need to get a safety in the portal and keep shooting for top high school safeties and linebackers. GBO

Thought Spillman flashed tonight at times. Telander plays hard but I don’t think he has the speed. Perlotte will be a beast, I agree. Maybe the issue is youth rather than speed. Safety is a concern. I think they need to spend more on that position.
