Exhibition Game

On top of the rule change of now being able to appeal certain calls ["(1) an out-of-bounds violation by the officials, (2) a backcourt violation, (3) whether team control changed before a ruled foul only if it could affect the awarding of free throws, and (4) whether the foul was charged to the correct individual."] for exhibitions games only, the coach will be able to appeal foul calls.

For 2025-26 exhibition games only and by mutual agreement of the competing institutions, to permit coaches to appeal a foul charged to their own team at any time during the contest. There is no limit to the number of appeals a coach may initiate and the appeal must be made before the ball becomes live following the ruling of the foul. Unsuccessful appeals result in a charged timeout to the team. Teams may appeal even when they have no timeouts remaining; however, when a team with no timeouts remaining loses an appeal, they are assessed a technical foul for an excessive timeout.
Is this a 🤫?

No, it will be televised on SECN+. Fans and media will be there, and stats will be kept.

I can't wait! I always try my best to make it up there for the exhibitions because those games always draw way fewer fans, and I'd sure hate it if the first time the newcomers excitedly run out through the tunnel with their Tennessee uniforms on and with fans present there that there's an echo in arena! I always wish there more more there for these games, but I do know our attendance for exhibitions is way better than most others get. I'll be there, and I'm bring three more folks with me.

OMG. Apparently my reading comprehension is in the deep freeze today. Yes, there IS a connection to Kim at Glenville State. Good grief. Sorry, y'all!

Hya’s journey continued as she transferred to Lincoln University (MO), competing in the MIAA conference, and later to Glenville State College, where she finished her collegiate playing career. In the 2022-2023 season, she averaged 10.2 points, 2.9 rebounds, and led her team with 74 steals, helping the team win regular season, conference, and regional championships. Her performance earned her All-MEC Honorable Mention and All-Tournament Team honors. The team’s success culminated in an appearance in the Final Four with a 33-3 record.

Absolutely! 🙌 Even if it’s not the best gauge or presumption this early, it’s always exciting to see the Lady Vols back in action — fresh faces, new chemistry, and that Tennessee pride on display. 💪🍊 GBO!
:) Since you're fresh to posting here (and most welcomed!), a little internet forum history.

Somehow it came to be understood that if a poster wants to say something sarcastically, sardonically, or facetiously...
put it in a blue-colored font. That way people will understand the intent and not be offended, or waste space "correcting" the obviously wrong take.

Each of us, at least once a year, assume we've made a statement so over-the-top, so preposterous, that it doesn't need blue font.
A least once a year, each of us assumes wrongly. ;)

I went blue font because this team, with its philosophy, is also so deep and talented that it's not the issue it would be for a traditional team. Go Lady Vols!

Oh! I forgot to mention one of the women I'm bringing to the game is going to be attending her first women's college basketball game, and is sooooo excited about it. She and her husband and young son are avid sports fans and often go Vols football and baseball games (and Atlanta Braves) but never a Lady Vols ANYthing. (I know! I know! 😮)

Anyway, I'm hoping the experience will be good enough to make her catch the LV bug and will want to go to more games in the future. I'm kinda glad it's just an exhibition game in a way because we'll probably see some fun runs and a bit of dazzling play now and then. It has been several years since I brought a first-timer, and so I may be about as excited about it as she is. 🤗

The season is almost here. Hot dang!

looking at the website the stat that stands out is average attendance at home games last year was 152. The players will have great memories of the game, including the orange fans in the stands.

a second observation is that they play a full schedule of similar teams, not having to be punished by playing top teams who need cupcakes.

I haven't looked at the schedule for NC-Central this year, and remember the coach being interviewed after the LV game, so pleased to have finished the gauntlet of crushing games against power teams.

Well, they are D2, so they can’t play top teams that need cupcakes, because the games would not count. They don’t really compare to North Carolina Central in that way. They are a D1 team.

Columbia State?

I thought we are playing Columbus State?
Lots of confusing college names out there. Kellie Harper and her Missouri team are playing Maryville tonight; not the Tennessee college, but the Missouri institution.

Right now the Tigers are trailing Maryville in the 4th quarter of their exhibition -- not a good sign for the rest of the season.
