Anybody check it out? Got my first experience of the Riverside Club last night. Interesting. Since my parking is in G5, I was a little surprised that I couldn’t enter through a regular gate on the main concourse. Strange, as I was really just wanting to get to my seat. I had to go to a premium gate. It was a bit of a pain. There simply isn’t a convenient way to get to those access points. I’ll plan accordingly going forward. The club itself is pretty neat, especially if you ever spent anytime down there on the floor level prior. You can now get an overpriced mixed drink in addition to the overpriced beer. God forbid you just want a 12oz beer. Nope, gotta get the 24 ounce whopper. New food options seem interesting, but we’d stopped for dinner prior. It’s similar to what you’ll find in a lot of NBA arenas. The difference is you have to pay for it in your tickets. Looks like the peasants will be relegated to the main concourse. Danny doesn’t seem to get that regular folk will still drop a lot of $$ on concessions.

I ran in to some long time ticket holder friends who were just as confused as myself. One said, I wanted to see what I’m paying extra for. We're both there to watch the game and not Socialize, so this seems great for those socialites, not so much for guys like us. I think it will eventually hurt atmosphere, as you’ll have fans at the bar and not in their seat, cheering.

Bathroom access is not great and they actually have porta potty trailers inside. Maybe they’re going to
put some more in, we’ll see.

Inside the arena, you can see no remnants of TBA. It’s 100% Food City Center. Whatever. It’s 100% an NBA level experience in terms of lighting, video boards and sound System. That’s good and bad, as it’s just constant flashing Lights and thumping music. I heard the new Jumbotron blocks court views form some of the upper level seats. It’s impressive.

Sterling is a treasure. What can I say, shooting T shirts out of a Gatling gun gets me going.

White Danny was circulating interest e mails for the rest of the crowd on the west side to measure interest at $515 a head for the season in the Riverside, but if there is no free food like the Delta Club at the Benz or the Truist Club at the Braves Stadium, don't see much value in spending money for space at the barn up under the seats. Premium experiences are not the table and chairs, flat screens and overpriced and expensive stadium food.

Thanks for that as I was wondering what all the hoopla was about with the Riverside. Same for me with that Gatling gun t shirt launcher, but I do miss the 2 person shirt sling shots.

I went to lot of UT basketball and football games as a kid up through my college years. I went back to see a football game last season (it had been a long time) and I could not get over how flashy and loud everything was. I'm not a fan of all that. I felt like I couldn't talk to my kids, which I wouldn't mind if it was crowd noise. Also, not one full "wave" through the stadium that whole game. What in the world is happening? The way you describe TBA makes me feel like I wouldn't enjoy a BBall game that much either.

It is sensory overload. I told my wife, the music was almost unbearable at times. The Duke people had to be like, WTF?

Sterl the Pearl’s mic is typically set to a 15 out of 10 on the volume and they refuse to turn it down. I’m fairly young and even my ears feel like they’re about to pop when he gets on the mic.

Re: entrance- it’s the same for floor seats at the Heat games down here. It makes sense there because there are several bars, food areas and a club below the stands- but it’s a little odd. Kindof of like going backstage in a music venue. Marlins games can be the same for some seats. Very strange that they wouldn’t include food- that’s usually a part of premium seating.

The Riverside area of the arena looked pretty good. It's been a mess back there for decades. Riverside had lots of traffic during the Duke game. Seemed strange to see folks hanging out there watching the big screens when the actual game is happening on the other side of the wall.
