Has Neyland been as loud this season as it’s been in recent years? I haven’t attended a game this season.

We’ve had some notoriously loud environments in recent memory, these games immediately come to mind:

Ole Miss 2021
Bama 2022 & 2024
Florida 2024

I am curious to hear some opinions from those have attended games this season. The vibe on TV doesn’t seem like it has been as rowdy, but TV doesn’t always paint an accurate picture.

I haven't been, I wouldn't know. But you can bet next year I'll be getting loud. Going to a few games.

Florida 24 was not a notably loud game in my opinion. Great environment but not an all timer. Comparable to UGA this year.
Neyland has been basically the same as usual in my opinion but there haven’t been any all timers like 21 Ole Miss, 16 Florida, 15 Oklahoma, 22 Bama

I have a theory that those environments only happen when we are especially wound up for an acute reason. Had too much success recently to be as desperate.

Neyland is loud. One can’t expect the fans to sustain the same volume when the D gives up first downs on 3rd and 4th down. Our d was better fist half vs Oklahoma and the crowd was insane. I couldn’t hear people beside me.

The fans are doing their part regardless if some don’t yell or stand. There were fans sitting down when I was a student early 90’s.

I haven't been to a game this year so I am solely basing this on what I hear on tv. It doesn't sound as loud as it has in the past. That being said... it could be the mics that they are using or not using that make it sound that way. I know the commentators will make comments about how loud the stadium is or that the environment is crazy.

I have read here from plenty of people that have been to games saying its as loud as it always is so I will take their word for it because they are there to actually experience it.

people have to understand loudness comes with good exciting play against top level foes that fans feel like we have a legit chance to lose but also a legit chance to win (no blowouts).

outside of the Georgia game there haven't been that many cases where this is true.

oklahoma is probably a candidate but at that point Tennessee had already lost 2 games and Tennessee played terribly in that game outside of the opening offensive drive.

the bama and Florida games are always going to be the best but those only happen every other year.

ole miss 21 was good but that was due mainly to lane kiffin returning to Knoxville and Tennessee wanting to whoop his @ss.

all the other home games this year have been mundane to terrible opponents. not really worthy of blowing your vocal cords out for.

also playing night games helps and we just haven't done that much at home this year.

I suspect with the lineup of teams coming to Neyland next season (Bama, LSU, Texas, Auburn) you'll see some very raucous loud environments.

Me thinks Greg Sankey has figured out a way to put a high tech restrictor plate on Neyland Stadium crowd noise. It's the only logical explanation.

IMO, nowhere near as loud this year.

My ears were ringing last year after Bama and Florida. I've had no such experience this year. Also, fwiw the dB reading on the board has been peaking at around 119 maybe touching 125 but consistently between 100 and 115. Last year it was consistently in the 120s and touching 130 a few times. So, the numbers and the ear ringing status checks out.
