in Tennessee Vols Football Recruiting

nick-olearyNick O’Leary has had an active early junior season already. The standout tight end is already up to around 13 offers, several from high profile colleges. This 6’4″ 220 lb tight end from Dwyer high school claims he holds offers from Miami, Tennessee, West Virgina, Florida, Florida State, and South Carolina. He also claims that currently Miami, University of South Florida, Tennessee, and South Carolina are pursuing him the hardest at this time. He took a few minutes to break down his recruitment and what he is looking for in a school.

“Yeah I have around 13 offers I think right now. I grew up a fan of Georgia and Ohio State as a kid, but that won’t determine where I go to school. Everybody is offering me to play tight end for them. I think they really like how I can do it all. I can block, receive, run pretty good routes. There is still a lot I can do to get better, but I’m working hard. Right now I would have to say that my favorites in no order are Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, FSU, Miami, and Alabama.”

Nick explained that his offseason might be different than most other football recruits. He has played on the school’s Lacrosse team the last couple of years, and will likely do the same this year.

“I can’t decide if I want to play baseball or lacrosse this offseason. I played lacrosse the last two years, we won the state championship last year. It was pretty fun.”

Nick also expressed he felt he would likely take all 5 official visits during his recruitment. He was also uncertian if he would be a candidate to graduate early or not. He was pretty strong in mentioning that one thing he will look at for a college decision is how each school uses the tight end in their offense.

As a side note, some of you may know Nick’s grandfather, golf legend Jack Nicklaus.
