Columbus, GA- A Day continues to be a positive force with recruiting for Bama. Carver High school in Columbus Georgia sent over several of it’s top recruits to watch the game. Quan Bray, Isiah Crowell, and Gabe Wright were all three at the Bama spring game. It left a lasting impression on the trio and may have positioned Alabama in a hard to beat spot down the road for the top recruits. Here is what Gabe Wright recalled from the visit and some updates about a few other schools.

“The game and visit went well. I got a good chance to sit down with Saban and asked him some important questions. I popped the “how long are you staying question.” He gave it to me real, he definitely made my day if it wasn’t already made.”

Gabe recalled some of the events at the game and a few key players that stood out to him on the team.

“I stayed with Nico Johnson, hung out with Upshaw and Dareus a bit too. Man, let me tell you Marcell Dareus is cut up man. I want to get a national championship one day like him. They lost some talent, but I think they are going to be even stronger this year. The strong point on defense is their secondary. Dre Kirkpatrick looked great, it’s too bad Menzie got hurt, but they still are very deep.”

Gabe offered a few opinions about his close friend and teammate, star running back Isiah Crowell.

“I was standing with Isiah and the running backs watching the running backs warm up. Most of the recruits were for some reason. They get after it, I know Isiah was real surprised with how hard they go. I think at one point he thought about committing, I’m pretty sure it’s his number one school. We both had a lot of fun, it’s Bama, it’s hard not to like the tradition.”

He then went on to offer some opinions about other schools he has visited recently and what lies ahead.

“Clemson was good, I’m not going to compare a lot, but Bama’s spring game was a little bit better. I may stop at Georgia Tech here real quick. We start spring practice in early May so that will push anymore visits until summer time for me. I want to take quite a few trips this summer. Oklahoma State, USC, UCLA, Michigan, are a few schools I want to check out. I don’t know if Isiah will go on all of those trips, I think he is real likely to stay in the SEC somewhere.”

Gabe has over 35 offers from all over the nation. He’s a monster defensive lineman and could play end or tackle at the next level depending on the college. Right now he claims in state school Georgia is recruiting him the hardest.

“Georgia the whole staff is sending me letters every day. Handwritten ones too, not just mail. They are really taking their time. Alabama doesn’t do as well there, but they can rely on their winning tradition. FSU is doing real well too. I love coach Fisher and they are very close to home. I know Isiah likes FSU pretty well too. I think he is favoring Bama and Auburn right now, I think if I committed to Bama he would also, but that’s just a feeling I have.”

There is another SEC school that the pair are learning more about. The new staff at Tennessee has made the pair a priority, and Gabe is hearing from coach Chuck Smith often.

“I talked to coach Smith last Friday actually. He’s a real cool guy. He has a good football past behind him. He also wore #90 so he is okay in my book. (laughing). I will likely make that one of my visit’s this summer too. I think Isiah is going to give them a shot, we will probably visit together.”
