Alex DixonClearwater, FL.- Spring evaluations are coming to an end as most schools end spring ball. Countryside High will be ending this Friday in a scrimmage against St. Augustine. Star cornerback Alex Dixon has been drawing some solid recruiting attention but perhaps none bigger than today. While on a conversation with your’s truly we were interrupted for him to take news of another offer. It would be his second offer of the day, both coming from the SEC.

“Yes sir I just got off the phone with the Florida coaches and they offered. It was great they were asking me when I was ready to be a Gator and that they liked me. It’s a blessing.”

Florida joins the mix with 13 other schools currently. FSU, USF, Nebraska, North Carolina, Wake Forest, and Kentucky are a few others who have already offered. As we alluded to, Alex was already on a high from another SEC offer he received earlier today.

“Tennessee offered today. Purdue offered recently, Rutgers, and Iowa State all have offered. I’ve been hearing a lot from Florida, North Carolina, and Kentucky. Alabama is showing me some love, Georgia a lot and Georgia Tech. Miami a lot too. I’ve been to USF for their junior day, FSU 2 or 3 times, and Florida twice.”

While the love continues to pour in for Alex, he spoke about a few schools in particular and what he likes about each.

“Tennessee was just glad when they offered. I mean they sent me some letters and stuff but I was surprised at the offer. I talked to coach Hinshaw today, they offered over the phone, and said they would ship it down here.”

“Florida State, they are known for great players and I like their style, their swagger. They have great coaches and they are a school of interest. Coach Dawsey is recruiting me from there, he’s cool I met him a few times on my visits.”

“Alabama, they are starting back recruiting me again. It’s a big time program and I’m glad to be recruited by them. I get lots of mail but we don’t have a lot of contact over the phone. I want to see where it goes.”

Currently there are no leaders for Alex. He remains open to the process and has no immediate timeline for committing anywhere. At 6’0″ 180 pounds he’s got good size to play corner or possibly safety.

“My first spot is at corner but I might move to safety. Coaches tell me I have great hips for my size and I react to the ball. I’m quick in and out of my breaks and I’m physical too. I’m looking at the coaching staff, playing time, academics and style of defense as my main factors. I like to play man to man. I’ve just been working on getting faster and getting quicker out of my breaks. Once my season starts I should have a list ready and then I will go from there.”
