Brandon Willis
Reports have now surfaced that Willis may not be 100% committed to the Vols now that he has had the chance to finish his season and re-evaluate his future. Willis is thinking that he will take at least one more visit before coming to a final decision. It looks as if a long time member of his top 5, Cal, will get an official visit. It also looks as if the University of Miami will get their shot to host the four-star lineman.
“I just think that I was in too big of a hurry to make a decision and get everything over with earlier on in the process. Now that I have had a chance to look over things and my season is over, I think that I need to be fair to myself and the coaches who have recruited me from the word go” said the Byrnes HS star.
Willis was very adamant about the fact that the recent developments involving the investigation into the recruiting practices, specifically having to do with the Byrnes high school stars, has nothing to do with his recent thought process. Corey Miller has always seemed to be a huge advocate for UT but in spite of his commitment and his friendship with Miller, Willis has never really embraced the whole situation in the same manner that Miller has.
“I love the idea of playing with Corey and helping get UT back to that elite level, but at this time I cannot truly say that my heart is completely set on Knoxville. I am still a verbal commitment but I think that it is only fair that I take another look at some other places.”
To date, Willis has been to Tennessee, North Carolina and UCLA on official visits as well as numerous unofficial visits, including Florida State and Tennessee multiple times.
“Like I said before, I am still a Volunteer commit unless things change. Just because I feel the need to take my last two visits doesn’t mean anything as of right now. If I were to find something magical at Cal, Miami or anywhere else, then maybe I would make a change. Until then, it is what it is. I just feel like I have five official visits for a reason and feel like at this point, I should use them.”
As of right now it seems as if not a lot will come of the recent developments and it doesn’t seem to have a big effect on many of the players in question. It isn’t the players or recruits who are in question here and it looks as if it will stay that way.

possibly the top coaching staff in the world, learn the defensive game from Monty Kiffen, If you plan to go to the next level. Having a defence education under Monty and offense from Lane Kiffen has to be worth a lot of money. they will always have quality coaches like big Ed Orgeron. Information helps make decisions. its spelled Kiffin and I think intended to spell DECENT not defence or it could have been defense.
to me it looks like willis will probally decommit .which would be a shame because as many have said and i believe if monty kiffen isnt the best shot at making him a long time probowl type nfl player then he hasnt got near the talent everyone thinks.sure he can be drafted almost anywhere he plays but the experience that monty would bring to the table would be invaluble to brandon willis .i hope he stays,but it is his choice and if he leaves tennessee eill just reolace him with another good talented player .brandon willis there is something special brewing in knoxville the coaching staff are bringing in the missing peices and some peices that will make them deeper in those positions ,that i belive in my soul that in the next 4 years ut will become an sec championship team a few times over and a bcs bowl team a few time and atleast 1 ncaa tital.and that is going to be the start of the tennessee dominance that flordia and bama has had since the vols last ncaa tital in 98 and they were good through 2003 then faded.but its their turn to dominate the sec which will still dominate the rest of collage football.so stick with commit cause you should not commit unless your ready and know for sure that you are staying,it doesent hurt football teams when a player decommits like it does basketball for instance josh selby decommited after he was committed that hurt the basketball team because they were inline for several other top 25 players and ended up just with one who is a great one ,and in football last year ut had a commitment from marlon brown who decommitted and went to georgia who didnt play him till the game against tennessee where he caught 2 passes for 15 yards and that cost him a redshirt year and a year of his eligebility and he is miffed and no doubt wishing he had not gone to georgia.my point in those to references is in football most all are replaceable it only hurts the player and in basketball it hurts the team
HAHA – you are talking about high school football players being developed into pro bowl NFL players. Don’t get too far ahead of yourself, ace. Monte Kiffin has as good of a shot at dying during the next 4 years as he does anything else. These kids are smart to look around and find what is best for them. My pesonal opinion is that UT will find themselves in serious NCAA hot water sometime during the next 4 years. I certainly wouldn’t risk it. Personally, I think they are smart to look at places like FSU, Miami and other programs that have a deeper history of being big time and playing for NCs. Maybe they’ll pick TN, maybe they won’t, but they have to do what’s best for them.
