Tennessee head coach delivers stirring message to the state’s business leaders
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Just as Tennessee football is building and growing, Brick by Brick, so is the economy in the state of Tennessee.
Butch Jones delivered that message of growth in his keynote address at the 103rd meeting of the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce & Industry in Nashville.
The event, part of a full day of meetings for the chamber, was held at the sprawling Country Music Hall of Fame, one of the centerpieces of the growth in downtown Nashville that is an example of the growth occurring all over the state.
Jones addressed the crowd with a message of leadership and teamwork. He encouraged attendees to surround themselves with positive, like-minded people that are focused on not only the same goals, but the same path to get there.
“Everybody wants the prize, but nobody wants the process,” Jones said in his address.
The economic growth in Tennessee mirrors that of the football program Jones continues to build. Over the last five years, the state has experienced growth in total and manufacturing employment, domestic product and population, all areas where many other states have struggled with growth in the same period.
Jones was given a rousing introduction by Lieutenant Governor Ron Ramsey of Blountville, whose primary focus in nearly 20 years of service in the state House and Senate has been economic development.
Prior to the event, Jones greeted attendees and posed for photos with fans at the Legislative reception, also held at the Country Music Hall of Fame.
