This is what it would say:
Men, this is the moment. That moment you have dreamt of since you were boys. Not only will you be playing in front of 102,455 screaming fans who have come out today to cheer you on from the bottom of their hearts, fans that have made Neyland an orange and white checkerboard. Not only do you get to put on this jersey and play this game. Not only do you get to play at this university, but today, you have the chance to be remembered for decades to come.
Today, there will be men bringing their young boys to their first ever Tennessee football game. Something they'll remember forever. They're coming to see you. They'll be wearing jerseys with your names and numbers on the back. There will be senior adults in the stands who can remember the time their dad brought them to their first game in this same stadium. If we play our game and take care of business, all of those will remember today for the rest of their lives.
The Florida vs Tennessee rivalry is long and storied. Some of the greatest games in SEC and even college football history have been played between these two teams. Of late the rivalry has been tremendously lopsided. But let us tilt the game back in our favor today. Lets hit them often and hard. Let us punch them in the mouth from the first whistle and never let up. Get after and punish the quarterback. Whoever sacks him first I want you to let him know he'd better enjoy the view down there because that's where he's gonna be all game long.
If Florida is to win this game, let it be because the trampled over 100 hearts and souls that were left out on this field. But Florida will not win today. This is Tennessee's day! Vols fans from the ages of ten to eighty in the stadium will remember this win for the rest of their lives. They will remember that you, men, were the ones who put an end to the nine year losing streak and signaled that this program had finally turned the corner and moved swiftly back toward greatness.
These walls have seen some incredible football players who will long be remembered because they decided that losing was not an option and that winning was an absolute necessity. Men like Jamal Lewis, Travis Henry, Reggie White, Peyton Manning, John Henderson, Al Wilson...and men like Justin Worley, and AJ Johnson, and Jalen Hurd. Men who refused to lose and took pride in this jersey and these colors. Men who stepped up when opportunity presented itself--opportunities like the one we face today. It's games like these that make men great and allow them to be remembered.
Earlier this week, Jeff Driskel said that Florida takes pride in emptying Neyland Stadium. The last time Florida came to town they embarrassed us and no one was left in the stands when the game was over. But today is a different day. Today is a brighter day. Men, Neyland Stadium is our home. This game belongs to us. So, let us go out there and claim what is ours! We are going to dominate this game in such a way that when the fourth quarter comes to a close that the only part of this stadium that will be empty is the visitor section. And 100 years from now, when this program is remembered for the beacon of football greatness that it is and when they look at the dark days behind us, let it be said then that this was the day when Tennessee football finally did rise to the top.
