I've never disliked either school. I actually respect/like both coaches.

But LSU being good helps us more than it hurts us, they play Florida every year a game I hope they always win. They recruit mostly in state talent and from Bama/Texas/Mississippi. So I'd rather them win and Clemson start being bad sooner, rather than later.
i'll buy that.

This is my take, but I wanted Clemson to beat Bama last year because of my hate for them. I thought it was glorious to watch Bama get dominated. I guess I don’t hate LSU enough. LOL. 🤣

Some really great stuff from Coach Johnson's exit interview in the Athletic:

What did you learn about recruiting from Jeremy?

The biggest thing is it’s a daily grind, not so much a calendar or a few weeks here and there when it gets tough. It’s a daily grind and you have to make sure you’re building those relationships not just with the kid, but with the entire family. With everybody in school. That’s one thing coach Pruitt wanted to know about. He wanted to know about the principal, the custodian, the sister, the sister’s boyfriend. He wanted to make sure he knew everybody in the family and everybody surrounding that recruit. And I thought that helped me out a lot, and everybody on the staff, the guys who have been in that league a long time like Chris Rumph and (defensive line Tracy Rocker), kind of showed me the way.

What do you remember most about that time, being 1-4? What was it like inside the program at that time?

It was a time to find out who was really on your side and who wasn’t. That’s why I always say Tennessee had such great supporters. Not just fans, these guys support us. That Vol Walk, when you’re 1-4 and still going to games and they come out and let you know they’re going to be there. As you’re trying to climb and go from one game to the next game, it was tough, but everybody was behind you. That’s what I remember. I remember the stands, the crowds still being real good. But the Vol Walk, being able to reach out and touch those guys as you’re walking to the game was a continued encouragement.

I usually ask everybody this when they leave the program. In five years, where is Tennessee’s program?

Probably in less than five years, they’ll be a Playoff contender. I think it’ll be less than five years. They’re doing such a good job recruiting and you’re getting some really good kids in there and trying to own the state. I thought we did a really good job of that this year. I know they’re trying to do that with the next signing class. If you continue to get the best kids out of your state, you’re going to be successful. And I think that’s what they’ll do, be on that path trying to win it all.

All I see when he starts his reverend pityme schtick is Dabo Swaggart.

And I'm ready fo some Ozzy when he gets exposed.

He has faith. He’s also a human being like is all who can fail just like King David did. He’s not Joel Osteen who is making a buck while promoting something that seems more for money rather than reaching people but I am not the judge to make the final call on him. Dabo believes it and wants to talk about his faith and it’s been positive and not finger pointing. JMO but if we have to put up with so many who bash faith then why not let others promote it.

I am pulling for all young men who make foolish mistakes, to bear consequences from their actions, to learn from it, and grow up to be better people. I know I made some mistakes. But if people atone, there is such a thing as second chances.
Oh, for sure. I’m not suggesting he’s a bad kid or what he did was unforgivable. In fact, I kind of lean the other way on the whole subject.

My only point was that we’ve proven we can win without him.
