Apparently the coaches didn't watch UK, USC, Clemson...

OU loses in OT and drops 10 spots. Clemson survives (should have lost) and holds serve 🤣

And UK hardly scraping past an awful 1-2 G5 squad 😒

The anchoring bias is VERY strong with pollsters.

Silliness...
Imo, coaches poll should be done away with. It's not a serious listing.

On a side note, I hope NC St bashes Clemson's brains in next game.

The gameday attendees knew it. They were booing Clemsob comments and chanting "overrated".
Yep. My friend & neighbor, an NCSt fan, is attending the game live. So another reason to root sor a Wolfpack win, on top of general hate for Clemson.

Hendon is special. Right now I only have Manning and Shuler as QBs that we’re better, that I’m old enough to remember.
Shuler isn't in his realm.

That said, it's becoming a lot harder to compare generations because schemes have progressed so much.

But statistically, HH is on another planet from everyone but/comparable to Manning.

I loved watching him play…. That Auburn game was something else
He was great, no doubt; and, to think, Majors almost didn't offer him.

However, he's a perfect example...whenever the deflation came with the Tillman news, some here would have killed themselves in 1985. Talking about rallying behind a backup.

No question.
4-0
Road win over #17
Home win over #20 gatas
Potentially a top10 ranking.
No one would've believed it back then.

I believe!

4-0 the heart attack Vols are back! VN, get your cardiac system checked during the off week. You’re gonna need to know if you can handle the strain of this year… I have been rowing 5x per week for 2 months in preparation and thankful that I have.

My heart stopped multiple times in the last series. I didn’t restart it until the interception to end the game. Was just gonna go if the gators scored. I do think that I felt my BVS shrivel, die, and disintegrate when our CB made the game saving interception.

If y’all thought that I was insufferably optimistic before the gator game, well you ain’t seen nothing yet! My entire decade of the 50s watched my Vols in misery. As I approach my 60th birthday next month, I am shedding that misery. I am embracing the fact that our Vols will now deliver the misery and despair to our opponents week by week!

Get ready VN, it’s a brand new day! Onward and Upward we go! Excelsior!

Heal the team during this bye week. Get ready to decimate our next opponent.

Gonna have to dow my HIIT cardio rowing 6-7 days a week to thrive and survive! Bring it Vols! We’re ready!!!

4-0 now en route to 15-0 🤠

Manning is 1st

2nd place there's probably 3 or 4 names I would throw out there: Hendo, Shuler, Casey, Dobbs

I would have loved to see what Dobbs playing with Heupel as HC would have looked like to do what he did with the gross incompetence of the staff he played for.
If HH and Heupel had the raw talent and defense of any of those Fulmer teams, he'd win 2-4 national titles.

Those QBs had the luxuries of top recruiting classes and defenses. Jmo but quite a few Fulmer QBs were overrated because their defenses were so elite. Statistically, not that close to HH at all. The ones mentioned were still quite good, not knocking them. But when people mention Andy Kelly because the teams won a bunch of games I just smh.

Per example….. we can all’s free that Peyton manning is one of the greatest QBs of all time….His senior season was the only year that he threw as many TDs as a Heup led team…. He threw 31 which was 2 more that UCF 2018 and tied hook last year….Ecept for Manning’s sophomore season…. He had a much higher int % than all Heup led teams…. The system makes great QBs….Hooker is a good qb but this system takes him to another level.
Cut was a great fundamentals and developmental mind…never a superior playcaller imo. Spurrier and Richt always better.

But you can also say that if Fulmer wasn't so damn conservative offensively those QB of his era would have had even MORE numbers.

Easily every QB of Fulmer's era playing with Heupel's system would have been even better statistically.

That team was poised for a collapse. Injuries was the excuse but we looked horrible through the Arkansas game and was lucky Casey and Witten bailed us out. The wheels came apart after Georgia.
was just pointing out that pointing at the record 20 years later and saying look we were good doesnt paint the full picture. That season was rough in real time

You're absolutely out of your mind.
25/8 8.3 ypa 3 rushing TDs was his best season

157 qbr

All with Garner/Stewart running (da**!)

And a TOP defense allowing 14.6 ppg

Vs

HH just put up 31/3 9.7 YPA 5 rushing TDs

181 qbr

With a pretty mediocre defense that couldn't get the ball back or put the offense in plus-position to save its life and nothing close to Garner/Stewart beside him

The wheels are still on and rolling nicely. Yesterdays game could have been one where we could have lost it, but we didn't. I am glad we endured and won the game. A few new lessons were learned yesterday.
