I get that. That much was never in doubt. Part of the reason that pool is so small is because they’re not paid as a full time job. They’re super fans and former players working for peanuts because they love the sport but we’re doing nothing to check their work or their biases let alone to combat corruption from schools, boosters, gamblers, etc.However, the conference only uses certain officials. That was the point. There are only a certain number that the SEC uses.

You can’t starve someone, give them no benefits, and insert them into a world where tons of players are willing to give them big money for a missed call here or ticky tacky call there and have no one looking over their shoulder. It’s begging for trouble at best.
