He's brought it up a few times in interviews lately. Must be getting under his skin.
No doubt, but he also needs to realize that every coach has dealt with a few idiots in the stands. I just hope he doesn’t get a collective mindset because of those few. Fans are paying the bills, you gotta learn to block that stuff out. On the other side of the coin, don’t go to games and get hammered drunk as a fan.
I don't have to tell you guys but. We have a lot of new fans now that Tony has become so successful. They do not know baseball at all or very limited. Yeah it grips me. They don't see the movement on the pitches , television does not capture the real life. They don't think anyone should ever make a mistake it's just nuts. GBFOWhat an idiot.
Well said preacher. The mlb guys who make millions of dollars make the same mistakes as our guys .The interesting part is the ones on here, in the stands, and other social media sites do not consider themselves NegaVols. Their reply is I can have an opinion. The players, coaches, their parents or others involved with the program should not be listening or reading what fans have to say. That is not true. Especially college students are drawn to read what the fans are saying about them.
I've heard well they need to have tougher skin. My answer is they are fine with it when it is the other team's fans but not when it is their own supposed fans. That hurts when the people who are supposed to be for you are saying things against you. It would be like coming home and your parents telling you that you are a horrible kid. I don't see why people feel the need to trash players and coaches. I know some of you will again say I'm not trashing them but when you make despairing comments about them in person or social media you are trashing them. If you want to talk about them, then do it somewhere they cannot read or hear it. Find a friend and text them during the games if you are going to talk bad about the players and coaches.
That’s the problem, it gets blurry when fans of other teams show up to our game day thread pretending to be Vol fans. The interesting part is the ones on here, in the stands, and other social media sites do not consider themselves NegaVols. For me that is not the case. It is people who are on here every week and I cannot imagine anyone hating UT enough to be on here every week. The sad part for me many times is it is regulars who would say they are just expressing their opinions. Not a big deal for me personally because it was very, very rarely toward my son but it is towards others that are on here even though I remind them regularly that this is not the place to be especially in game threads. That’s the problem, it gets blurry when fans of other teams show up to our game day thread pretending to be Vol fans.
Reminds me that Jomboy the YouTuber said a yankee player's dad cussed him out for criticizing his son... like dude, your son plays for the Yankees. It comes with the territory to be under a microscope.Well said preacher. The mlb guys who make millions of dollars make the same mistakes as our guys .
I would tell family and players themselves to just stay off of this website entirely, maybe even Twitter as well. I know that's hardly realistic, but it is a good idea. For me that is not the case. Well I will say this, I’m a huge fan of Tony and the coaching staff and I believe he needs a street on campus already. But as a human being, if ANY of us expect a perfect world we’re gonna be disappointed every time. It’s not a scheme where everyone is out to get you, it’s the way human beings are. The good definitely outweighs the bad though with our fans. There will always be those select few people, even after Tony is gone.It is getting to him, and I don't think its as simple as just a couple of drunks yapping. I completely understand why it bugs him. That dugout is extremely positive and forward focused. You hardly ever see anyone getting ripped, its usually just 'get 'em back, next AB, next Pitch' mentality. So your own fans chirping at you doesn't help.
Its easy to say just tune it out, but baseball is vastly different than most sports, particularly when these guys show up.
It'll be a lull in the action after a strikeout and Idiot A will scream something about "quit being so stupid!", "wake the hell up!", or "THAT'S TERRIBLE!" (all stuff we've heard in the last month). Last week we were treated to a 2 min speech from a guy about how "Tony does this stupid mess around tuesday bullsh*t and wastes my damn time!" when Queens went up 3-2. You can see the guys on the rail turn and look when they do it, and that's EXACTLY why Tony says something about it.
It sounds hippy, but baseball is such a vibes sport and TN guards theirs closely, so they're gonna call it out when something or someone messes it up.

Well, I for one am hoping A&M continues to play below their talent level for one more weekend! We all have to admit, Nick Mingione is the biggest horse's arse in college baseball.
The SEC Network broadcasters tried to make him look like a good family man last year in Hoover but this sort of thing is why EVERY coach in the league can't stand him.
It was clear they were slow playing and A&M is already frustrated enough this season and losing a 2nd game to a third world program like UK in that way had to be the straw that broke the camel's back.
By the way, are there no Aggies on that team with a sense of pride? Coaching is an issue, but this team is far too talented to be embarrassing themselves like this.
