Ant makes more “spectacular” plays than MM but also has a higher tendency to blow “easy” plays. MM‘s career fielding is .967 to AA’s .945. AA has 2 more errors on 87 fewer chances.Ant is much better defensively. But regardless of who hits/fields better, gotta have someone playing the position and - unless I missed someone on the roster - there are no more shortstops on the team. I think there are 3 incoming freshmen listed as SS, but 2 of them are rated highly enough idk if they'll make it to campus...
Interesting. So, he's not necessarily going pro, and may end up going elsewhere.
I don't think I like that.
Wonder what his reasoning is? Money or he just doesn't like it here?
Elander is known as an excellent recruiterI was high on manny after his freshman year but he just never took that next step in my option. The chase rate was outrageous. Curious though, is Elander known as a big recruiter? How much did he have to do with recruiting when Tony was here? I’m genuinely not aware
Manny’s higher fielding % on significantly more opportunities says otherwise.Ant is much better defensively. I hadn't checked the fielding percentages, it seems you are quite correct. I would be curious to see what the percentages would be if both had a similar number of chances. I think a better way of stating my original statement is that AA is a more talented fielder with a higher ceiling defensively, MM may have a higher floor especially with regard to consistency.Manny’s fielding % on more opportunities says otherwise.
The one I don’t get is Evan Hankins. He tore his ACL early in the year that kept him out. So it’s not as if his lack of playing had to do with his ability your lack thereof. He simply wasn’t available. With Manny hitting the portal, I wonder if that changes the equation for Ant or Ethan Moore. Definitely a shame to see Taylor leave, I thought he had the potential to contribute quite a bit next year in the OF and on the mound.
