’14 GA ATH Elliott Berry (UT Signee 2/5/14)

Thats a very very good sign imo.

The Berry's dont seem to have a far reaching circle. The fact they are reaching out to our lead recruiters and legacies is huge. Especially from Elliot.

Think he meant to DM that post? Surely he is followed by and is following those guys?!?! 99% sure that is grounds for and official pre-boom. 1% chance that he's got an issue with someone and wants to talk it out. This is good...

There fighting over hostesses imo

He is a sure GS if other things work out as planned about Barnett and the Berry brothers. No the staff would be up front with him on a possible GS and I think he is fine with that or that is what I gather

I don't think the coaches would have accepted Dews' commitment if they didn't want him on the team. The kid needs a scholly, so he won't walk on. The number crunch will be worse next year, so I don't see a grey shirt. I think the deal is either solid or he was told up front that he could get bumped with a lot of attention which he was not getting before, which would put him in a much better position even if he did get bumped. Bottom line, I think he is on the team because the coaches see him as a good player and a good fit.

His brother saw 2 coaches and we've had 2 more since those. As legacies and rated players they've earned their time to wait.

Sounds good to me! Now we wait...

I hope the tweet is good news

I've learned not to take anything away from what recruits say or do because there's really no telling

The Vols like Elliott Berry on his own merits. They're recruiting him as a linebacker — mostly a nickel linebacker, Berry said this weekend — and that's obviously still a position of need for UT. He's a good enough athlete to play a role there at some point in the future, even if he doesn't earn early playing time.

- 247 - Ryan C. on those asking about Berry being "good enough" for one of the final 7 or so spots.

Honestly, I can't believe people even question taking the Berry's. They've been a priority for the staff since CBJ got here. They were two recruits that the staff reached out to first. The UT staff wants them in this class. No question. They are both good enough to be in this class, too.

People base their evaluations on camp performance. If either EB played only one position in HS and attended a few camps, recruiting services and message boards alike would think more highly of them.

I agree, and one thing against Elliot is that he's a bit of a tweener. He doesn't have the ideal size for a LB, which everyone projects he will play in college. He's listed at 5'11" 191lbs. Sounds like a safety to me.

Ryan C. noted yesterday that the staff is looking at him to be an immediate impact at the nickel LB position, which is actually a spot where we need a lot of help.
