’14 GA ATH Elliott Berry (UT Signee 2/5/14)

Maybe Butch wants them to be the final pieces of the legacy class in December/January? Would be a nice splash in the media.

Hubbs said today that Butch and staff are recruiting the twins very hard and they are priorities.

I think they're silents and Butch wants to have them go public late in the year, after the season, to keep momentum going.

Playing devil's advocate......I am scratching my head..."if they are a lock to come to Tennessee, why haven't they pulled the trigger yet? We have all the momentum right now. All the other legacies have pulled the trigger but them. Why?"

Thinking out-loud now....The twins have stated that they know that Vols fans everywhere are expecting them to follow in their father's and their brother's footsteps and attend Tennessee. They have even intimated that they do not want to be taken for granted and feel that they have been.

If they do decide to blaze their own trail, I hope that everyone respects their decision and wish them luck.

I will. It would be tough to follow EB14 and the legacy that he built here. I can say for me, I just don't expect anything close to that from the twins. They are not the players that EB14 was and I don't think they will ever be. Having (2) more Berry's running through that T in Orange would mean a lot to me. I would love to see it. The kids have to do what is in their best interest though. No matter what they decide, this class will be special with them or w/out them. The fact that they are still playing the recruiting game, makes me think they are seriously considering other options. I hope CBJ can seal the deal and get them to be Vols soon.

Here is something for you to think about… Maybe Butch wants them to be the final stamp on this class. After all, it is considered the legacy class and hopefully the class that will return Tennessee back to national prominence. What better way than to have the final two pieces of the class be the Berry twins? I think that it would make a very big statement. It would encompass everything that this class has been built on… Legacies, family, tradition, etc.! It actually all makes sense. Do we have to wait until NSD? Quite possibly, especially since a handful of our big targets seem like they want to wait until signing day.

Butch has clearly orchestrated quite a few of these commitments going public… I believe he has orchestrated the final two pieces of this class going public, and they are the Berry twins.

Ron, you beat me to the punch with these thoughts! Just said exact same thing 2 posts after yours. Well done! :hi:

Some people may be taking them for granted, but Butch is certainly not one of them. I'm pretty sure they've been quoted that UT was recruiting them as hard as anyone.

"First of all since the Berry twins remain the hot topic for some reason. I don't know of anyone who has said they can't play or that they are bad players. The only point that has been made is that no one thinks they are the prospect their brother was when he was a senior. You gotta understand how good Eric was. The guy ran sub-4.4 at a Nike camp before his senior year with a cast on his hand.

The problem for Elliot and Evan is that they have been talked about since they were in the 8th grade so they could never live up to the hype. It doesn't mean they are terrible players. What has been said is that neither one of them at this point are where Eric was as a high school senior."

I really hope that the ignorant or crazy fans will not rub the twins the wrong way and they commit somewhere else. They are low key for a reason, but you have people talking about not even wanting them on the team because they are not their brother. No they are not their brother, but they are good ball players. I live in the Atlanta area and know kids that go to opposing schools. The brothers are very good.

They seem like they like Tennessee but also seem kinda like yea I know Tennessee wants us and everybody wants us to go to UT.... They seem really relaxed and just going to through the motion with the recruiting stuff.... But I did like it when hooker asked where all they visited and they paused and said well UT haha but they did say they might visit Florida for Friday night gay lights..... Hahahah they just said schools pretty much cut off from recruiting them because they think they are both UT locks.... I hope they are and they just go ahead and commit !!!!! GO VOLS

Notes on Elliot Berry from TSR interview:
-be nice to everyone
-only visited Tennessee this summer
-might visit FLA this weekend
-not making a decision anytime soon
-pretty sure he will play OLB
-likes the energy and knowledge of our staff
-talked to Thig and Jancek for over an hr at foundation day
-feels weird about fans coming up asking for autographs
-said his dad doesn't push UT
-said most schools have stopped recruiting him due to UT ties
-liked coach Ansley from previous staff

I know. Loved the video when it came out. Their dad looked to even get a bit emotional about the whole thing. I bet Rocky is a family pet. A constant reminder of the great school/tradition that is UT. :loco:
I'm sure it is. Just pointing out that they didn't name it Rocky.

Notice how their mom also set up an interview on TENNESSEE sports radio too.

They are all Vol

The boys may not have named him but they definitely said that it's name was "Rocky" when Hooker asked what it's name was.

I know. They didn't name it Rocky though. That was their father

"I don't think there are disadvantages," Elliot Berry said. "I get to see the recruiting process from two different angles. We play two different positions and we have different interests at times, but we are also alike in a lot of ways. Then again we are the complete opposite when it comes to personalities."

"It was fun," Elliott Berry said. "We were really just talking about what campus life is like what the daily schedule is like. We didn't talk to much about recruiting and I like that. It's nice to just hang out."

"We are trying to find a group of prospects that we click with," Elliott Berry said. "We want to win and we want to be surrounded by other good players. Also getting a solid education is important."

"We have a whole new staff," Elliott Berry said. "It's a lot different. The practices are a lot more intense. The new staff is teaching us about all those new life lessons. I guarantee when you turn on our film, you will see a huge difference."

These kids could give Phil Helmuth a run for his money. I want to say they are all vol, but you just can't get a read on them.
