That game was epic for some of the 4th quarter and overtime. It's not all about the finish for me. It was a great game, but I'm not going to say it was the best ever.Boise State - 43, Oklahoma - 42

That was all media generated hype. There is no way that was actually the biggest upset of all time. I don't even think that's the biggest upset of all time for a college football championship game.Aahh. That game itself might have been more exciting. Maybe. But I'd rank the USC/Texas game higher just because of the implications. A National Championship. Not to mention USC was looking for their 'third NC in a row', were on a 30+ game winning streak and the game was being played in USC's backyard. The Longhorns(And Giants) pulled off probably the biggest upset of all time. At least for football.
I could agree with that, and even that had a lot of media driven hype. For me, it was more of an upset because OSU looked mediocre the entire year. I still think they are the luckiest national champion I have seen. That Miami team they played was good, but not remotely as good as the team Miami fielded the previous year.Yeah I didn't think it was that big of an upset. OSU over Miami was probably bigger, championship game-wise. I'd probably put Texas-USC as the best game I've ever seen.
I don't think anyone here will say that was the greatest game ever. I certainly don't think so.Speaking of greatest games ever, I hate how many people up here will say the #1 vs #2 OSU-Michigan game in '06 was the greatest ever. Greatest hype and atmosphere maybe, but I've seen much better and and more exciting games.

Has to be homerism. That game was nothing special from an actual football standpoint. OSU spent most of the game up 2 touchdowns and Michigan just cut the lead shorter at the end.I meant up here in Ohio. I've heard a few people say it and I don't understand how anything but homerism would cause them to believe that.
I don't know... I didn't need the media to hype up USC. They showed their dominance on the field by being unbeatable. Playing for your third championship in a row while winning 34 in a row speaks for itself. Texas needed a beyond rare player to end the streak and win the championship. It's not every day that you get one of the greatest college players of all time dropped into your lap. We hate Tebow but think he is great, at least I do.... but he doesn't do what Vince Young does. He loses to Michigan and Alabama. He wins a National Championship while his defense holds the #1 offense of all time to 14 points. Vince Young did it himself. You could say Texas's defense made some key plays. Interception in the endzone and a 4th down stop. Vince young still had to help his team put up 40 points and won the game on 4th down and 15 seconds.
I just think want Vince Young that game and in college was amazing. It was Michael Jordan and Joe Montana amazing.

Vince Young had an unbelievable game, but you're overrating USC. They gave up a lot of points. I know there were probably a lot of garbage points given up in blowouts, but they still gave up 42 to Fresno State and would have lost if Bush didn't get more than 500 yards of total offense alone. Not to mention that they barely scraped by a vastly overrated Notre Dame team. I'm not sure if they lost a lot on defense between 2004 and 2005, but it certainly gave up a lot more points.I don't know... I didn't need the media to hype up USC. Agreed. It was ESPN and their stupid 'greatest team ever' debates and polls which actually had people buying into this crap. There is no way that team could beat the 2001 Canes.I agree. VY was one of the greatest college players I've seen play which is why I don't think it was a huge upset. A decent amount of people thought he'd be able to carry Texas to a win or at least make it very close.
