Michigan Wolverines LB Marell Evans will transfer; freshman CB J.T. Turner cleared - ESPN

Evans was a part-time starter as a sophomore. He has three years to play two seasons and said he hopes to transfer to another top division school, perhaps Virginia Tech, Clemson, Tennessee or Florida State.

this kid's from my neck of the woods...varina is definitely one of the best programs in the richmond area every year and they put a fair number of kids into d1 schools like va tech and uva so he might be alright.

I coached against this kid a few years ago. Varina is one of the top programs in our region for a fact. I find it odd that the top D1 schools dont come into Central Va to recruit. VT gets most of the kids though. I wish Ut would come in and snatch em up. (I hate VT)! Being a LB coach at another top program in Richmond i thought that the kid wass a beast and is aggressive and gets to the ball well. He has a problem with waiting to find the ball I've noticed in some instances but I liked him. I think he played on a team with 9 D-1 athletes. Im sure he has put on some muscle and has gotten his fundamentals straight so He would be a good pick up.

From everything I've found, he was slated to be a backup this year on whats supposedly a thin LB corp.

Exactly. This staff isn't going to take "ok" players with only 2 years of eligibility remaining.
