quote from Will Hill...

"Virginia, North Carolina and Maryland are schools that I definitely want to see again but I can get to them easily. I am going to look at Michigan, Tennessee, Penn State, and some other schools for official visits because they are much further away."

I'd rather have Cummings. Looks like he has a huge upside for only playing football for one year.

His best friend is a huge Tennessee fan named Adam...

"Tennessee is sitting pretty good," Hill said. "I don't have any clear-cut favorites, but I like their prestige and tradition. They have a good coaching staff and good academics. They are a well rounded university.

"I'm going to take my official visit for the Florida game and then probably come back for a game with Adam and his dad."

I hadnt really heard about this kid until about a week ago or so. A friend of mine that used to play for Virginia and has friends inside the recruiting of the Cavs and also has his hands on the pulse of Virginia High School Football, told me about him. I got sortof excited at first thinking he could bulk up a bit and play DT. Not sure if that is reasonable and I have never even seen film of him play. Supposedly he likes UT and was pretty dominate in games last year as a Junior.

DE Will Hill (6-4 260) out of Williamsburg, VA says that USC has offered him a scholarship. His other offers are from Virginia, Maryland, Michigan, Penn State, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Connecticutt. Hill is a large defensive end at 260 pounds and feels he may get even larger. "I think I could still put on 10 to 15 pounds and still play on the end. That's my position." He had 60 tackles and 8 sacks in his junior year. Hill feels he is a balanced player that plays both the run and pass very well but is aware he always needs to work on his craft. " You always have to be working to get faster, stronger, and quicker off the ball. You have to or you'll be left behind." Hill does not have any favorites but says academics is important to his decision. He would also like to go to a school that has a diverse student body. Hill mentioned that he was impressed with Maryland's diversity. He likes Michigan and their academics. Hill does want to learn about each school that has offered him. Ray Rychleski is his USC recruiter. He runs a 4.85 40.

"I've already taken an official to Tennessee for their game against Florida," Hill explained. "That went well. I've taken an unofficial to Virginia for their game against USC, and I went to Duke for their game against Virginia.

"The Duke trip was a pretty good visit. I got a chance to meet the coaching staff and that was good. Right now I'd say Duke and UConn are in pretty much the same position. I'm still interested in them but they're sort of on the outside looking in."

The three-star defensive lineman said that he will decide when he sees fit, but is currently in the process of narrowing down his list. Right now, Hill considers five schools to be working the hardest for his signature.

"Everything is pretty good, I mean, I guess I've kind of narrowed it down," he said. "The ones that are showing me the most interest right now, are pretty much Tennessee, UVa., Penn State, North Carolina, Maryland, in no particular order."

With his senior season wrapping up, the 6-foot-3.5, 280-pound prospect will begin hitting the road to check out a few more schools. He has already taken an official visit to Tennessee.

"It's a blessing to play football, but (the season) is not what we've wanted it to be," he said. "We've been fighting every game, had some tough games, but right now we have a 2-6 record. Personally, I think I'm doing all right, I mean, you can always do better. Defensively, I just want to get better."

Through eight games, however, Hill has racked up over 60 tackles and 12 sacks.

"A lot of my schools, like the ACC ones, are having good years right now. Pretty much they are all alive for the ACC title game right now."

He said UT's tough season makes a difference, but it doesn't as well.

"You can look and see that, but it's going to be a whole different season when you get there. What you bring to the table, how hard you work decide the outcome of that season."

Hill said, when asked, that he brings a "little bit of everything" to the field as a rush end.

Paterno makes run at Virginia DE

Wednesday, November 19, 2008

Posted by Bill Kurelic

Penn State didn't just host Indiana on Saturday, it was also a recruiting weekend for Joe Paterno. Penn State's legendary coach welcomed in two prospects on official visits and many others on unofficial visits.

Kicker Anthony Fera (Houston, Texas/St. Pius X) and defensive end Will Hill (Williamsburg, Va.,/Lafayette) made their official visits to Penn State over the weekend. Fera had already committed to Penn State and Paterno is hoping Hill soon does the same.

The 6-foot-4 and 260-pound Hill had an outstanding senior season, making 92 tackles in 10 games. He registered 14 sacks, 24 tackles for loss, forced six fumbles and had a defensive touchdown.

Hill leaves no doubt he is considering Paterno's Penn State scholarship offer.

"Right now I like their academics first," Hill said. "Second, I like the opportunity to play early. Like anywhere else, you have to battle, but I feel ready. At Penn State you play in front of 100,000 fans every week. And I could play for Joe Paterno, one of the greatest coaches of all time. I like the Penn State coaches."

I still wish we could have gotten Jamarcus Savage last year.. what a great name - Will Hill is a pretty cool name too. Maybe we can make up for it.

Williamsburg (Va.) Lafayette defensive end Will Hill recently returned home from an official visit to Maryland and he had plenty to say about the experience.

Hill has narrowed his focus to four schools. In addition to everything that took place on that trip, the 6-foot-4, 260-pound lineman has also set a tentative time frame for making his final decision. Where do things stand today?

"The visit to Maryland went pretty well. I got in Saturday and went for a tour of the biology department," he said. "After that I ate lunch with a couple of the players and then sat down and talked to some of the coaches. I went to dinner with the team and then we went to the game."

While the Terrapins lost to the Seminoles in a blowout Hill said the outcome of the game will not affect his decision.

Hill had already taken official visits to Tennessee (September 19) and Penn State (November 14). How would he compare the Maryland trip to those two?

"The Maryland trip was good but they were all good. All three of them went well. They all showed me the good things that they have to offer. I wouldn't say one trip was any better than the others.

"I don't think I'm going to take my other two visits. I think I'm going to go ahead and make my decision pretty soon here. I should announce something on December 2 or December 3."

Hill went on to say he has narrowed his focus to Maryland, Penn State, Tennessee and Virginia. While he has not officially visited Virginia, he has spent plenty of time in Charlottesville unofficially.

Is it a coincidence he wants to announce 1-2 days after our rumored announcement of Kiffin taking the reigns? Could it be? I have my doubts, but food for thought never the less.
